  1. I only worry about bugs that affect me. Collectively, each game that's published must have around a thousand bugs eventhough commonly one user suffers from only one or two. So this is official?! WOW! That was quick!
  2. You you wanted to hax0r Well dunno much about that.
  3. I've finally reached the point where I can begin developing my own ammo and weapons, but now I don't need to since I've scavenged stockpiles of guns n ammo from the Cultists. This is partly due to the fact that I realised the difference between Weapons Factory and Weapons Lab a bit late.
  4. I haven't got to the point where I can begin producing Heavy Armor, but I think you need an advanced weapons factory and lab. The more you have of the latter, the faster things that require that lab will be researched.
  5. I only scavenge weapons. I've got a basic weapons factory and an ordnance factory and it seems that I could start researching for E.G AP Bullet manufacturing etc. stuff related to weapons, but I simply cant get the research to start. Not even to the column on the left where other things (like school floor plan, reticulan language) get researched. So what I do is sail overseas (ok float in the laputa) and kill me some Cultists
  6. Now as I've moved forward in the game, I've noticed the quality of my gameplay experience has come up a notch. I think it's because my own units perform better and so I get less "Hit That... from Here??" -type remarks. Also, now more of the game's finer details are coming out, such as the significance different trainings, better weapons and more interesting enemies. I'm sticking to my original scoring, however. The beginning's learning curve is way too steep and nothing can take away the absolutely ridiculously annoying unit responces. Also, what the UFO series has already mastered is replayability value. Right now I'm doing OK and making good progress in the game and I'm still thinking that I could start over, just to get those school floorplans researched a tad earlier!

    boosters

Well you'd have to get really close. I wouldn't risk sending a soldier of mine that close.
  8. Hmm.. I've been a little aggressive in my territory gaining and I've pretty much pissed off every side I've come in contact with. I need the ammo and resources! Doesn't stop the Humans from asking me for help, though. So that always boosts my relations with Humans.
  9. Perhaps someone could try to come up with a blood mod?
  10. Umm did I understand you correctly But yes, having no tracks is the best solution for saving resources, but what ever isn't connected to your track network / capitols is unusable. I hope this answers your question?
  11. Aftershock shure looks alright, but it's too heavy for the amount level of graphics. I think loading times are too long and with eycandy at max it seems impossibly slow. They reccomend a 1Ghz Intel and I've got a ~3Ghz AMD equivalent + double the RAM it wants and a fairly new vidcard (9800Pro), so I'm a bit dissapointed to say the least. Also, there's a few flaws in the game, I think. For example, now your teammates are more worried about inflicting friendly fire and thus won't fire if someone's in their way. This new feature wasn't taken into concideration when deciding to keep the movement system the same. What I mean is, that your soldiers (when moved as a group) always fall into formations where around 1/3 soldiers can shoot, because the others are in his way. A formations option would be nice, I'm not going to enjoy moving around 7 soldiers all individually every time I want to move them once I get further in the game. There's one addition which I think is pretty useless and that is the possibility to select where on the battlefield to drop your pod as it doesn't seem to offer any real advantage. I think the movement system isn't also quite as strong as in the Aftermath as soldiers accept routes but all of a sudden when a small stone is in front of them they can't figure a way around the stone and simply stop. The route planning system seems to hog a lot of resources as well. I downloaded the patch and didn't notice any improvements, since I really didn't play the game unpatched as I got the game after the patch was released. Character responses in the game continue along the lines of Aftermath, meaning that they're annoying. I just wonder, what is the purpose of adding a voice to the game that replies to every command like a seven year old with a bad attitude. The music's pretty good though. There's a bit of early console music mixed into modern day game music there. But there are definately some interesting features added, such as mild base building and the modding of weapons and extra races. And once again, the story seems really interesting. The only reason I'm going to attempt to play the game through is that I payed good money for it. I should've gotten COD2 I gave Aftershock a 6 in the vote.
  12. Hot damn.. he isn't in ANY of the bathrooms in the map Boy guess it's a weird bug or something...
  13. My tactics narrowed down pretty much as a began to reach the end of the game. Snipers & Steyr AUGs outdoors fighting transgenants, neosteads indoors base/craft assaults and defenses. A few fire grenades for fun. Then the very final missions I gave everyone the heavy armor, collapsible plasma gun and neosteads in the backpack just in case. Moving slow, covering angles and alot of waiting for reticulans to appear.
  14. OK thanks I'll give it a try.. hang on... Nah the version of TFTD from *link removed* didn't work at all. I wouldn't even get to the scrambled graphics before it started up. [Edit by Zombie: removed link.]
  15. Hi I recently started playing SSS again and started a new game. I've played the game through once before and now I can't believe that I'm stuck so early on in the game. I'm in the mission where I'm supposed to free the captured Sentinel and I've been all around the small map and just can't find him. I really can't remember how I found him on the first time around. Please, all help would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Spoiler - - - - - You guys talking about the skeleton PK that can be found in the UFO mission? That mission always crashed my PC when I got close to the skeleton PK
  17. Only problem is, that when I start up X-COM the graphics are all scrambled. I can't make out a single thing. I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL out of the game :/ Any ideas? I've got ATi Radeon 9800 on win XP

    cheating in 1.4

At times I got really desperate and thought that I needed to cheat, which proved to be impossible in 1.4. Or atleast I didn't figure it out
  19. I also hope that there's many different musics used in the game. UFO:AMs music set the mood, but all together there were maybe 2-3 different songs. Got a little repetitive since it took me a month to complete the game.
  20. I'd like to see the available missions just a tad clearer in the global view. Say a small info box on the right or something listing different missions and their types.
  21. Hey, how about savegames? Will they be affected?

    endgame

Are you aboslutely sure that you've researched everything available for research? I haven't finished the game yet so I can't tell you, but often I've read these forums wondering what weapons ppl were talking about, only to notice that I hadn't research something that lead to the possibility to research the mystery weapon in question.

    Civilian Rescue

Or then you'd have to use time during missions to stock up his ammo :/
  24. Maybe ALTAR should've set a real expiration date to those few important missions
  25. the YTMND site works only on IE, I think. I can't get it to play with my Firefox atleast.
