  1. Ah, man! Now I've got to go back and try that mission again. Thanks for the tip.
  2. I prefer to hunt 'kleins with 'kleins. I use my grenadier and scout to throw mortar shells at them, or have the engineer or grenadier fire AP PIAT rounds. The various sniper weapons are not too effective in my experience, though they can be useful for softening up incoming 'kleins. If I have to fight on foot, AP rockets and heavy grenades are the easiest. I've also been very impressed with the engineer throwing dynamite and completely destroying 'kleins.
  3. KoMik - I want to say thank you for creating RandomStorm, which has really added to the enjoyment of my S3 games. I am having one problem that I'd like to mention, in hopes you can address it for a future release or suggest a way to work around: The start points for the RandomStorm maps are set too close together for Panzerkleins. The panzers are always on top of each other and no one can move or attack. It's very annoying. Is there a way to work around this?
  4. Yes, I was surprised by how easy the last few missions were. Stash was hard until I realized I needed to take Panzerkleins, easy after that. The last mission (whichever way I played it - stealth or assault) was much easier. Doommunky - the UN mine mission is a lot easier if you rob the bank first and have enough money to hire Viper or the high level scout. It's not nearly as annoying if you can see the enemy before he shoots you.
  5. Do you still get penalized for the dead cops killed by Hammer? Or do you have to go through Hammer fast enough that none of the cops die?
  6. What's the best way to run the Valhalla Firm mission so that you don't end up killing the police? Two sets of officers got killed by terrorists while my sniper lead character was hiding and using a silenced K98. Then a police officer accidently walked into him, realized he was there, and all the remaining cops turned to enemies. So I killed them... I get back to base, I'm up $9500 for completing the mission, but down $15000 for having the civilians die. What's the right way to complete this without so many dead cops? (Yes, I know the loot from the Hammer vaults more than makes up for it, but it felt wrong to shoot Swiss cops anyway).
  7. Well, my laptop is an Athlon 64 3000+ with an nVidia 420 Go, and the game scrolls slowly at 1024x768x16 with medium settings. The processors are broadly equivalent, and really, the meat and bones of the graphic simulation is going to be how fast textures can pushed in the graphics pipeline and the various lighting math calculated. That's not really a processor issue - that's all video card. The processor speed should affect the length of the AI turns, but not the graphics settings.
  8. The workstation version of AMD's Athlon 64 FX chip. I rather doubt that Nival made Silent Storm multithreaded, so you can roughly consider my rig equivalent to a Athlon FX-53. I updated the graphics card two years ago for Temple of Elemental Evil, and only spent $200 at the time. SS doesn't require cutting edge graphics, but you certainly need a card from the last 3-4 years. Looking at pricewatch.com, I'd expect that spending 150USD should be enough to bring you up to speed.
  9. DoomMunkey, what kind of video card are you using? My laptop uses an Nvidia 440 Go, and it can't really handle the game except at 1024x768x16 with most of the effects on medium. My workstation has a Radeon 9500 backed up by 2xOpteron 244s, and it looks gorgeous and plays beautifully with 1154x962x32, maximum effects, and x4 FFAA. The important thing is to match the game's graphic settings with the video card.
