  2. Hey, about Jagged Alliance 3, some questions: Dialog system? Is it the same what was in JA2 or/and is there now dialog trees (like Fallouts)? Non-combatant skills? Is it mostly based on usable items (like in JA2 and Silent Storms) or/and usable objects (like Fallouts)? Is there any skills like speech, barter, luck and so on? World map? All what you can milk out of it Strategy and role playing elements? Is there factories, mines or/and other supply/collection production plants? Any different factors and consequences in the sandbox? Modding tools? Yes, I got my hopes up with this game...

  4. I think it shouldn't be called Fallout 3. At least for the honour to the orginals' turn based system, and fans of it. That's all.
  5. Never seen that box... Try to run just your MSQL (from the icon "your_pc_name" - MSQLServer, lowest Window's panel, near the clock) if same box appears, then problem is in SQL Server or ODBC. Can't help with that ... maybe reinstall... :D If MSQL starts, then problem is the MapEditor: - try to run from "all programs" (not from desktop icon, maybe wrong path) - reinstall your editor (maybe from "Uninstall (repair) game" or just reinstall the whole game and editor at same)
  6. I though you have problems to reinstall SQL Desktop Engine... not MSSQL Server's Data-Sources. All your SQL stuff is in the "Microsoft SQL Server"-folder. If you had once set up the SQL Server in Data-Sources (ODBC) then it will stay, even if you have uninstalled SQL Desktop Engine. So, I think you just need to... How to reinstall messed up SQL Desktop Engine: (make backups and delete mods from SQL Server:) - stop SQL Server - copy-paste your mods to a different folder - start SQL Server + Map Editor's first window - remove/delete you mods - stop SQL Server - delete mod folders from the game folder (now you have backups and SQL Server is empty, then reinstall:) - uninstall SQL Desktop Engine with add/remove program - delete "Microsoft SQL Server"-folder (usually the path is: Program Files > Microsoft SQL Server) - install SQL Desktop Engine (from you game CD) (now you have reinstalled, then backups back:) - run the Map Editor + Map Editor's first window - create a new mod - stop SQL Server - replace your ex-mod's stuff with the new mod (folder name must be left same) (now you have your old mod in use, ready to roll:) - run the Map Editor + your "new" mod But if your ODBC is messed up then I dunno what you can or should do.   7. I got that same message when I tried to reinstall (done that many times) my messed up SQL Desktop Engine. Then once I just deleted the SQL's folder, it was still left in the Program Files folder even I had uninstalled SQL with Windows add/remove program. I'm not SQL expert... so, I don't know is that "recommended" or maybe harmful but after I removed the folder Windows let me reinstall SQL.

  9. I'm downloading it... (236 Mb) Here in Finland our leading PC-magazine's reviewer was very impressed by this. He said: + stirring + surprising + rousing - quite dumb AI - missions are not related to each other Thank you guys for your hard work (a real turn based game)! APs tactics rocks!

    Name Editing?

    To change S2's and S3's hirable characters' names you need to have the editor installed and updated (check out the intructions from manual(s)). Then... - run the editor and create a new batabase (a mod) (- if you ran the editor first time ever then close and run again) - select/open the Strings tab - go to the folder: Interface v5.0 > TacticView > Character ToolTips > Character Nicknames - change name(s) --> Double click the item and write a new string (in the properties window!) - build your mod (hammer icon) - close the editor and go to your new mod's folder - move description.txt and game.db (in S2) or s3description.txt and sentinels.db (in S3) files to a new folder - add the mod to your current game save via AddMod program or start a new game with your mod added Sorry about my b
  11. Sorry but I have never encountered that bug... it's strange indeed. Some of mobs in REs are on higher levels but that should not affect to player's damage. Does this happen in every RE? One reason could be mobs' armor, some of them have better bodyarmors - but not all. I think there is no workaround for that no criticals-bug. My S3MixMod mod, which increased damages, may help but it makes the game harder as well. You may add it "over" the RS_mod and play with them at same time. http://koti.mbnet.fi/sil5i/mods/S3MixMod.zip

  13. Indeed! That map is huuuge... vehicles would "go to a good cause". Maybe in sequel? Requirements might go sky high but vehicles would be worth of it. Hmmm... future of gaming doesn't look bad at all (aaand action!). This "E5's-system" can support at least two player (coop/vs) mode pretty well.
  14. If you know that you get only one chance to shoot, then try with rocket launcer (no mercy style), grenade, machine gun (full burst) or sniper rifle (headshot). I personally like throwing knives (yes, throwing knives! If I don't remember wrong, mobs can't get interrupt if player use throwing knives. At least if player use professional scout and hide-mode. Same is with silencers but those are more sensetive to exposing.).
  15. This game sounds more and more "My cup of tea". Something like this I have been waited years to come. Hopefully this will hard rock hard, sell well and bring more AP-games to developers lists. O'ye!

  18. Hey-hi Collectar! Sorry but I donno much about 3D-modelling but maybe brandeburg could help ya. I know that files what you get with res.extractor needs to put throught some kind of converter program to be converter to proper files (at least is it so with the texture files). There is a skeletor what works for all human models... could you maybe use it? Of course then you have to do own geometries from a scratch and that might be difficult if you don't know the sizes... hmm.. Does the skeletor show you the sizes? Sorry but my 3D knowledge is so poor... Cool idea! I'm interested!
  19. I like the "old school" look of this game. Maps are maybe filled too much and thats why there is too tight routes (corridors) but that's just fine for APs tactics. I counted 11 team members possibility... whoa.. that's almost a full squad. Small and big tanks... o.k. Hopefully the general feeling is stirring... Strategies sounds like the X-COM1/UFO:EU except: Not a bad idea at all, I think. Thanks for the news Slaughter!
  20. It seems that there will be released near dozen pause games every year... and just one or two APs games. Well, that's better than nothing. I think and hope that at least ET will be APs based. I like its simplefield unlinear strategy, simple weapons and over all Action Points based tactics (!) - ay caramba!   24. Okkkay, I updated this S3MixMod a little bit (to v0.71, 1st post also fixed and edited): So, PKs lost half of their VPs. They suffer more damage done by grenades (frags!), rifles and MGs. Later I'll try to find a quite tolerable way to make pistols/smgs to do some damage also (graters ). Note! Changes to RPGArmorsToDmgs/RPGDmgToArmors also affects to elite soldiers' bodyarmors.
