    Shotguns

    hmm shotguns were pretty rare in ww2.. so i think they arent essential.. but i got a nice bug you could use to give you some shotgun feeling. use the oddball mod with a rifle (i think one of the mauser and an allied too you have to try) and it will shoot all bullets at once.. its kinda like a shotgun but far more powerfull cause it even shoots long distances - if one shot hits - all will..
  2. biggles sorry.. but why dont you tell him that theres a mod that fixes that? and king kurt - why dont you just use the search button or look in the mod forum - there are plenty of posts regarding this? its named skill hack or watch dog. the developer just recently updated it and posted a link in the mod forum. http://home.comcast.net/~cchargin/silentst...torm/index.html its works perfect by bringing all skills to the minimum for that level and doesnt touch any skill higher than that. but nothing official - sry.. edit: ups sorry didnt saw the post date
  3. no theres no way you can save him... its just a way to get you more involved into the main story youll find out later. sometimes you dont even have those missions. thought the missions change with the difficulty level. i played normal and hard and got these missions only at normal.. so i thought its a way to give the player more experience and items before the main missions. but since your playing hard - maybe its just "luck"..
  4. sorry there is no way yet. (maybe never) there is no mod which removes all pk elements.. im working on one but the farer i get - it gets more complicated. i just read about an eventual gold version of the game - maybe this will help with an extra disable option. untill then i suggest you use the weaker pk mod (just search for it at the nival forum). all pks get faster but loose vps. so its easier for you to dont use them at all by yourself. but the story and enemys will use them.
  5. no didnt hear anything.. its not even mentioned at the developer site.. but im looking forward for this cause i like the ww2 scenario much more then the after war of sentinels. and maybe the gold version (if there is one) will have a few nice extras

    we all know there are problems especially with radeon cards.. but lacking developer support you just need to figure out settings/drivers which will work.. and mostly some will work.. so have a nice play
  7. sounds like youve changed your graphics driver.. try to update them and the game. also try to test some other graphics settings maybe your graphics card/driver has a problem with fog or something else you need to disable
  8. your system specs are pretty low for this game.. but i cant figure out why it breaks down at the professions screen cause the 3d engine is first required at the main menu..(for the background) so i cant give you another advice but to try different settings/update your game (if you havent) or try to get a savegame from someone else and load that one so you dont need to get through the character screens.. if you wanna try to load just post and ill send you a savegame.. just tell what kinda soldier you want and which side and ill save one at the first mission..

  10. its just because modding this game is no fun as no help from the developwers is available and the editor is crappy to use (still very good in functions).. so many mods were started but never finished.. and the s2 community isnt really big.. you just have to look around this and nivals forum.. be sure to set your view to show posts "since beginning" cause most are pretty old.. if i got time and fell like it ill open a thread with links to all known mods with description.. but im too lazy (and high) right now..
  11. jap the physics are really amazing i got a whole lot of funny situations but most of them or similar are allready mentioned in this thread.. i like if my soldiers are acting at the same time for spectular effects (would have loved a possibility to preassign all actions to all soldiers and hit go) 3 guys of my crew (gari,reggie,olli) threw grens at the same time at a group of three enemies.. the first exploded in back of them causing one dead which flew right towards my men. other 2 wounded.. second exploded in front throwing that poor bastard back - not harming the others..(but me - gari dont likes grens) third exploded right in the center while the flying guy still sniffed some fresh air.. causing him to explode not even leaving a drop of blood.. the other 2 were thrown back.. that was pretty nice cause there was pretty much time between the explosions.. so watching that flight and firework was kinda cool :twisted:

    possible sources for your problem: 1. you use 16bit mode (many effects will only run at 32bit) 2. your graphics card or drivers dont support these effects 3. the game doesnt support your graphics card
  13. there are several mods which are pretty nice.. it depends on your gamestyle which you wanna install f.ex.: oddballs mod 1.2 die hard 1.5 skill hack 0.1 some backpack mods (increased item size) changed pk style(faster but weaker official mods which came with game version 1.1 and more.. maybe ill post another thread with links to most mods.. until then just search the nival and this forum! (most mods can be downloaded from the files section at s2hq but f.ex. the die hard mod is outdated) be sure to view the posts of any date cause many threads wont be listed in the standard view.. remember that mods can be buggy.. and using multiple may be even more.. (f.ex. oddballs mod is pretty nice but got a bug that some rifles shoot all bullets at once.. shotgun effect) mods i currently use: pkmod item uses ap skill hack axis skins
  14. camera control should be enabled through the menu.. far to few options there.. i dont like maya camera view.. just cause it converts domr moving directions.. its the best to go trough walls and stuff so i use it at special szenes.. try to change the camera settings in the autoexec.cfg you find help at the camera-section at s2hq or just use these: mission_camera_limits 30 1 90 -1.8 -0.05 mission_camera_softlimits 30 1 90 -1.8 -0.05 mission_camera_zoom_speed 0.3 mission_camera_pitch_speed 5 mission_camera_yaw_speed 1.5 mission_camera_scroll_speed 1.5 this gives you a better zoom possibility to zoom near and far. camera scroll speed in my cfg speed is higher too

  16. there is nothing official which fixes your problem but some script someone made and posted at the official forum for this exact problem.. problem: just the skills which you actually use get higher.. so if your engineer is level 30 and never used a lockpick before.. he wont open that chest.. its pretty.. realistic but annoying cause if you change your engineer to a fresh level 4 from your base-staff he will open that chest without probs.. so this script will work perfekt.. it will raise all skill-niveau to the normal level off that class type and wont touch skills that you trained higher.. the script can be found here: http://home.comcast.net/~cchargin/silentstorm/ taken from this thread: http://forum.nival.com/showthread.php?=&th...highlight=skill for installation read the included readme! credits go to cchargin - i use this script myself - thank you!
  17. my guess is that your whole configuration (cant specificly say what) got some problem with an game-graphics-effect.. a few possible solutions: Graphics Driver Version: 4.14.0010.5664 <-thats a pretty old driver version.. actual is 6.14xxx - i think biggles overlooked that and saw the sound driver number which is a new one.. Sound Driver Version: 6.14.0431.0000 maybe you should update your graphics-driver.. i heard about problems with some nvidia drivers.. but only with the demo not with the 1.2 version.. btw. make sure your friend got the 1.2 update Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (16 bit)(1Hz) ^^what the ??? 1Hz??? if that is right what i doubt.. youll get eye-cancer you got 16bit.. there might be a problem cause many effects will only work with 32bit.. try enabling 32bit.. (in the game too) (performance will reduce but with fog disabled youll be fine) if that wont work.. try modifying the config.. use the graphics configurater which can be found at s2hq or manually change some critical settings.. information can be found at s2hq.. or just try using my config.. its pritty high settings but i think theyll work on that configuration cause of a few performance boosts on less important things like fog or anti-aliasing.. but maybe he wont like it.. camera handling and such are changed too.. dl-location: www.aer-o-tec.de/thork/config.cfg
  18. you dont need the savemod! just enable the console ( put "wirbelwind" <-without " at the end of your autoexec.cfg in the subdir cfg and place a bind in the input.cfg f.ex: bind console 'F12') this will give you a console in the game when pressing f12 and allows you to save your game whenever you want with the command: save * where * is the filename you want.. you may load from your console too with the command load * other commands can be listet by typing help hope youll enjoy the game now.
  19. its nice to see that at least someone shows interest im still working on the project.. but not with that much esteem like at the beginning.. i think everyone despairs on the lack of support by the developer.. but this game is just too nice to be abandoned. the only problem is that this is my first modification ever - so i dont have any idea when this mod will be finished. first steps were the worst.. but it still kinda improves slow. i think im half way through - removed pk and sci-fi (was kinda hard to bring together with story - still some changes to do which i dont know how to..) changed statistics on some weapons-data. at the moment im changing some weapon models and uniforms.. i think this will be the hardest thing to do.. its pretty tough working with maya.. so.. i hope ill get that done.. but at least 2 weeks till release.. maybe even more.. maybe never..
  20. the skill hack is allready nice (it fixes level up not ai) and i use it.. would pack it together with my mod if there are no problems.. the backpack is nice.. but im not sure.. what could be nice too is a 2 hands attack with knifes/pistols/smgs.. like in ja2.. but i think this would be very hard cause it requires additionel skill which had to influence accuracy calculation but i dont want to make new maps/campaign.. it really seems hard to do some nice scripted events..
  21. i just wanna check if someone still is interested in modding this great game, cause i think this community is about to die.. and thats a pitty.. i just recently buyed this great game cause i overlooked it as it came out.. now i realize this is nearly exact the game i ever wanted. (2.WW squad based tactical rpg style game) nearly-cause i dont like some parts like the sci-fi part and some gameplay things. so.. its simple - since i couldnt find a mod which modifies all this stuff i want to - i like to create one by myself. (oddballs mod and the die hard mod are pretty nice. but oddballs mod is a little buggy and misses some important things while die hard streches the limits) i nearly read all topics relating modding in this and the nival forum-collecting all usefull information and ended up trying to find out stuff i couldnt find. now i think i got everything i need to create a nice - big mod. my questions: since having so much trouble getting all relevant information are there still guys who are interested in a mod creation tutorial-which shows all usefull information in 1 thread? if so i will do it-otherwise its too much work.. is there still someone around who got experience in modding. i would be especially interested in someone who allready worked out how to fix skill problems. if someone just would act as an advisor for some questions it would be nice. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- stuff i found out/collected: (wrote a few batch files to do that)identify the textures in the res files (was pretty tough) edit data and statics stuff i want to change: (mostly leather)skill fix (grenade usage and some other) sci-fi remove add weapons (not much just some i miss) weapon on back (second hand weapon should be shown on back) +maybe more im not sure off.. depends on how hard it will be and how much time i can spare long thread-thanks for your patience Thork
