  1. I played it and was very disappointed. I like the research tree better, but it is not at all realistic. Italy invaded France and ate up half the country before the French reacted (all the French troops were easliy holding back the Nazis in the north). After the Gremans finally cracked the French line and took Paris, the Italians left all of their occupied terrritory and Vichy France was born. I like the game but will wait 3-4 months (and a patch or two) before I play it again.
  2. This would have been a fine game - in 1995!
  3. I've really forgotten how to play Aftershock. In my first game I only built factories in my bases, so I had to restart. In my second, I built rails everywhere, using up my resources, and the cultists chew me up everytime I meet them. I have to make so many saves that the games become tedious, and that's on normal! That first meeting with the Cultists, when they are far better armed that my level 3,2,2,2,1 squad and they outnumber me 3-to-1, not so good! For my third game, I'll try newbie and only use rails to connect bases like you're supposed to. The models are great, even if I only see the new weapons used against me.
  4. I just got this game although its been out for 4 years. It's kind of a combination of Fallout and Jagged Alliance 2. It was never released in the US, but someone made an English language mod for it (I don't know German). Anyway, if you like either of those two games, check it out.
  5. If its on SC's front page, it needs to be re-written to include the name of the game and additional details.
  6. You know what they say about video: it adds 5 kilos to you! It my case, its more like 15, but what can I say. I did re-order some of the questions & answers, so it won't play out the same way I wrote it down.
  7. I looked into meeting with the distributor Stardock but they don't seem to be going. I do have the beta version of SOSE (?) and its ok. Maybe because its a beta, but you start off right next to other empires, so there's little chance for exploring and expanding before you're trying to exterminate your neighbor.
  8. Your link goes to a "Thank you for taking the survey" screen.
  9. I was hoping to see this at E3, but Stardock doesn't attend.
  10. Who gave it a rating of 5 out of 10?
  11. Are you going to post where the lowest prices can be found? I ordered it for $30.95US delivered (from the UK to the US) from CD WOW! USA. The price was lowered to $28.95 after I placed my order.
  12. I just installed it. Vista gave me a couple of extraction warning messages but the game seems to run ok. Great movies but I haven't played enough to get a feel for the game.
  13. I'll be buying this one, the Jazz one and Afterlife. When are they all due?
  14. Both my Core 2 Duo systems run Vista, but an older Pentium runs XP. The XP system runs the demo fine. I have a third C2D system that I've been meaning to set up for over a month but haven't made the time. That one will be a XP system, since Vista is not ready for prime time. The error mesage is very basic: "UFO.exe has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available." No further information is provided. Do you know a good program to collect system info? It's a pain to try and give a complete system spec listing, but I'll give it a try: Vista 32-bit RC2 Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 motherboard Intel C2D 6300 overclocked to 3.15 GHz 2 gigs of OCZ Gold PC8000 ram running at 450 Nvidia 7800 GT running the drivers updated by Windows Update (8/22/2006 driver date, version 7.15.10.9746) - I tried using the latest Nvidia drivers on their site but those would not run Sword of the Stars correctly. The PC was buikt to run Folding@ Home 24/7, so it is otherwise very stable.
  15. I tried that but it still would not run. It generates an error message within a second of clicking on the desktop shortcut. Any other ideas?
  16. It supports 1680x1050x60Hz, the native resolution of my monitor. It does not, however, run in Windows Vista.
  17. What is the mean of this ? Like at the start of JA2, you will be asked 20 (or so) questions. Your answers will determine the avatar's characteristics: equipment including weapons , special skills (automatic weapon master, night ops, steath, etc) and other game attributes .
  18. Play the demo. That will give you a good idea of what the game is about.
  19. The more JA-type games, the better. The gamepley looked pretty good to me at this year's E3. It was the strategic play which seemed to be lacking. I wonder why the SF goons dumped GFI?
  20. Lookin' good! Was someone going to post an interview orpreview of Afterlight? I'm thinking Slaughter, but he might be too busy with his Swedish girlfriends!
