  1. Well, what exactly is the problem? If it is the speed of the game, or the garbled graphics at the starts there's answers for that in the other threads here in the support forum.
  2. Happy birthday man! Oh, and Happy birthday to you too Alan.. Hope it'll be a good day for both of you.

    Speed

Uhm.. The patch should fix the Geoscape speed so you won't have to have lightning reflexes. Did you try using it..?

    Speed

Animation speed isn't really that bad. That's just moving sprites, such as smoke, alien entertainment, fire and so on. Just static stuff. Which means it would look better if they ran at the right speed, but it wouldn't change gameplay anything.
  5. Yeah, it's pretty good. Go rent it if you haven't seen it. Geena Davis plays the girl with amnesia who's been an assassin, like you said.
  6. Doesn't sound too bad.. but.. heh.. the story sound like a copy of the movie Long Kiss Goodnight with Geenda Davis and Samuel L Jackson tho. That's pretty much the exact story of that movie. Well, not the x-com commander part tho. If I recall correctly they even had an Angus in that movie.. [edit] Angus was from some other movie I think.. my bad
  7. That was easy for me. UFO all the way. I haven't played TFTD much actually because I didn't like it the first time I tried it years back (yeah, I know I should've tried it more.. ) and I don't really like Apoc. Not sure why.. probably because I didn't like the real time and it took way too long in tb (especially the slums.. :hmmm:)
  8. I mostly use them as any other guy unless there's a more riskful situation, then it's more likely I send forth a rookie. (Unless my higher ranking soldiers are the only ones with flying suits) Like when I need to scout out an area where I suspect there's aliens. Somtimes they tend to get left behind because of the lack of time units compared to their friends. At least I regret loosing an officer more than a rookie.

Well, if you have the windows version, just download this patch. And go to this thread if you need any help with it.

    UFO

I don't remember exactly when I started playing UFO.. I know it was a long while ago, when it was somewhat new. Probably four or six or seven years ago. It was released 94 wasn't it? A friend of mine had it on his computer so that's where I started playing. Without a manual it looked real hard. I think I stopped playing it for a while after I tried it the first time because I didn't have the patience to learn it then. But when I finally did a while later I played it a lot.
  11. Oh, cool, I didn't know that. Thanks.
  12. Well, if it's the Gold Edition of UFO (The Windows version) you could try this. http://www.x-com.co.uk/forums/index.php?ac...ST&f=13&t=7&s=2

    X-Com on XP?

Flash: That's odd.. I've got a 1.4 GHz and I have no speed issues what so ever any more. Are you using the Collector's edition of UFO? Because that's what the patch is for. But then again, I suppose it wouldn't fix anything if it was the dos version. Haven't tried it tho.

    Apoc in XP

Cool, thanks. I actually downloaded that file yesterday, but I hadn't tried it out yet.

    Apoc in XP

A crack fixed it? That's odd. Is it the copy protection that makes it crash? I wouldn't mind having that crack.

    Apoc in XP

I've got the same problem as Brattern with this game, and the compatibility doesn't help. At least not for me. I had a problem with the audio in the intro as well, but VDMsound helped with that. I haven't really been trying to get it to work a lot since then, so still no solution.

    X-COM Rights

That's pretty cool. The only downside is that if they decide to make a game we'll have to wait for them to finish. And waiting sucks.

    X-Com on XP?

Glad to be of assistance. The menus being too narrow? That doesn't happen when I run it. What menues? You're not able to adjust your monitor's wideness or height for that?

    X-Com on XP?

Yeah, I use it. And it works like a charm. It fixes the graphic bug (that makes you have to fiddle with DirectX) and it fixes the speed issue as well. At least for everything but moving sprites (such as smoke, alien entertainment and so on) All you have to do is copy the two files located in the ufo1 or ufo2 folder and copy them to either your ufo or your tftd folder. Then the next time you start the game you use the ldr_XCOM1.exe or ldr_XCOM2.exe to start the game. Just make sure you get the loader file and the musfix.dll in the game folder and it should work. Hope that helped.
  21. You can do that, (wich usually works) but the game will still run a bit fast, or you could download the f0dder patch for the Collector's Edition, which fixes both ufo and tftd. It should do the trick. All you have to do is add a dll file and a new exe file to your game folders and run the game with the new file instead. f0dder's bugfix It doesn't help you with Apocalypse tho.
  22. I got my Collector's Edition from ebay (I actually got two from there) and both were unopened. And the X-COM Ufo Defense which comes with the Collector's Edition runs just fine in Win XP (you might need to patch made by f0dder at http://f0dder.has.it) Terror from the Deep works as a charm as well. Apocalypse is a bit harder tho, haven't gotten that running yet. If you don't find any at ebay, chech half.com or.. hmm.. milsims.. it's an australian place, can't recall the url now tho.
  23. Maybe the guy tripped on his way back to the sub? But if they weren't killed, unconcious or under mind control it sounds like a bug. And that's not really the first time there's been a bug in these games, right?
