  1. Hey Zombie, Ahh that's a bummer. I think I figured out what was going on with the Familiarization issue- Turns out that by taking Force of Habit, it not only slows FM gain but also FM degradation, which didn't become apparent until I realized that weapons stored away don't report FM values. So essentially it has taken me 3 missions and 30+ random encounters just to zero-out my old weapons FM. Also realized that like the base game, the redesigned mod only really serves to compound the issue of playing iron-man. The gameplay changes essentially turn the game into a save-scum simulator. I lost Holly on a RE because an enemy got an interrupt from my sniper and proceeded to throw a grenade half way across the map to land precisely on the back of Holly who never broke stealth. Was actually enjoying the mod until I realized that enemies not only have grenade spam logic but can usually hit pin-point grenades at sniper ranges dealing 300+ damage. The moment I lost Holly it was game over and I rage-quit lol. Went back to playing Kenshi, only to lose one of my main characters to a stupidly unlucky hit to the belly from a Droneguard Praetorian- All hits to his damn belly!! So that's 180 days down the drain. Thanks again for the response.
  2. A little while ago I started a campaign using the Redesigned mod and while initially quite brutal, it has became too easy too fast. I wasn't really counting on automatic weapons being so powerful. Similarly, is there a way to respec your character through console commands? I think I have a bug that prevents me from gaining weapon Familiarization which I think could be attributed to a perk conflict. Appreciate any assistance.
  3. Hey Zombie, Thanks for the clarification. Yeah, I usually save before exit. I don't have much experience with mods in this game. I am still a bit curious as to why the mod title screen disappears like that. I'm hoping this is normal lol. Cheers!
  4. I so wish Blunter would have made a version with just the aesthetics/uniforms. The gameplay changes he makes in all releases makes it simply not worth it for me. Guess I will have to make do with my fat-legged, man-shoulders girl.
  5. Probably another silly question here. I'm just curious if there are any implications for not applying a mod each time you load up your game. I have noticed that with mods like S3 Redesigned, the mod specific menu screen reverts back to vanilla when you exit and restart the game. When I load my game, mod content still persists despite that. Is it considered good practice to apply any applicable mods each time you load, or does it only have to be applied once at campaign generation?
  6. I'm with you on that, Thorondor. After realising that this site doesn't even update threads with most recent posts kind of had me questioning myself. Can't say I am surprised to see the void of activity here. It was always a fickle game for fickle people lol. It's also a game I never would have bought off of face value. It just so happened to be covered by one of my preferred content creators at the time. So yeah, I do acknowledge the futility of posting here. Still, there was a glimmer of hope that a crusty old SS veteran would be lurking around these parts even today. At any rate it was nice just to get a reply of any sort, so I appreciate the kind gesture. But for anyone that might happen upon this, those Hammer spawns in the tutorial were apparently intended to shoo you away from the mission. Maybe it was because I was whacking away at the basement door for so long that I found myself so pressed for time. I got through the mission by running away only to get my team blasted away with pin-point grenade spam in the very next mission. I only persist as I'm very curious about the new maps. Not sure if I will ever get to see them at this rate.
  7. What are the suggested difficulty settings for this mod? I tried my usual settings, which is equality between player and NPC and +1 level and cannot even complete the tutorial mission. Three Hammer guys spawn in and are equipped with wall-hack, GPS-tracking, Aimbot and trainer all enabled. I unloaded an entire clip of TT into one doing 7 dmg and he was still Healthy... Then he proceeds to deal 200 dmg from 15 yards away with a MP40. I don't get how you deal with multiple lvl 20 enemies with advanced weapons and cheats on the very first tutorial mission. I couldn't kill even one of these guys even if I had 10 turns in succession.
  8. This may come across as a stupid question but Is it recommended (for an English only speaker) to play the 1.03 version or the 2.26 final version? From what I understand the final version replaces dialogues and possibly text/tooltips with Russian. I just don't know to what extent that will affect the game.
  9. I would have liked to watch that unfold. Would be far more interesting, to me at least, if you had a set amount of lives. I've always wanted to do a hardcore run, but it's almost impossible to tune the difficulty for that style of play. The slider go up, your save-scum slides up. Seems the only way to do a true ironman run would be to reduce it to stupidly easy settings, at which point you ask yourself why.
  10. Getting back into this game. Just wanted to ask if anyone knows how to install any of Blunter's Uniform mods without any of the gameplay changes? The uniforms are fantastic but the gameplay rebalance does not work for me. Makes the game too easy.
  11. A million for H&S rights wow! That would surprise me. I wouldn't imagine their sales even exceeded 100k. It's hardly a streaming success lol. You're dead right. There are a few titles that manage to get away with very similar design and concepts. You could probably get away with changing the name Panzerkliens to Mech's and it wouldn't breach copyright. Something about H&S that really appeals to me. Ironically I found the game to be a complete mess, but it does show huge potential. I was envisioning what it would be like to tap into that potential. I'm at a crossroads where I either follow my heart and invest my money into a project like this or buy a house and follow a more realistic, albeit more mundane existence. Funnily, I do genuinely believe I have it in me to produce a game that does everything right where so many get most of it wrong. When I look at the swath of crap on steam, such a task doesn't look all that hard to achieve. Thanks for the input!
  12. Say if I was to utilize a semi-modern engine and develop H&S on the updated engine, how much would it cost to buy the rights for it ? Just after a ballpark figure.
  13. I've been trying to get several different versions of MSQL running on win 7, but the editor and tools never work. MSQL developer engine 8.0 doesn't work with win 7 apparently and SQL express needs win 8.1, so I'm SOL. Like you, I am interested in merging and/or dissecting mods. I've always wanted the All uniforms mod without the gameplay changes and OP items.
  14. I was unable to get the Border mission having probably done them in wrong order. Oleg (who comes with the awesome AK 47) is my toughest operative. Originally I had planned to only use him for the corrupt official mission since Holly couldn't pick a lock even if you gave her the key. Plus he was easily able to sneak into every crevice of that mansion. I was about to fire him, until he unleashed the almighty wrath of his AK. I felt bad robbing him of his weapon, so I kept him on, and only use him as a last resort. Him and OZ are a particularly lethal combination. I was kind of let down by the Thompson 1928, being one of my favorite real life weapons, I was disappointed to see how it is depicted in game, very crappy stats.
  15. Bummer. Well I guess it's fair that they don't have any exclusive perks, they are already OP lol. I gave my Soldier guy a Sterling Patchett since I am unable to source another AK 47 at this time. Seems to be working out ok. Can't wait for another AK 47 though.
  16. I have a new favorite weapon after each mission, though the M.712 has a special place in my heart. Used only that for the first 8-9 levels on my Sniper, solid weapon. The AK 47 has earned a top rank also. It's got brilliant damage potential and it sounds amazing. Oleg probably uses about 10-20 bullets per mission because it's just so lethal. My Medic used the 33-40 Rifle for a long time, but the damage kind of drops off by the 10th mission. I have since replaced it with a AVS-36, so she spends a lot less time reloading and more time healing. My personal favorite Sniper rifle at the moment is the SKS-45, good damage, very low AP cost, decent clip capacity, and it sounds like a beast.
  17. After seeing the sheer destructive force of Oleg's AK 47, I am now considering using Assault Rifles on my Soldier (who is currently spec'ed for SMG's. But I am curious, do any of the SMG/MG Perks/Abilities apply also to Assault Rifles ? Additionally, does the Rifle Specialization Ability affect Assault Rifles, due to it being a Rifle ?
  18. At just 20 FM my to-hit chance is improved by 30% which could make the difference between taking a shot and not even bothering. I'd say it's pretty important, whether you need it or not. Plus it's my preference to always be reasonably familiarized with my weapon. I also do not plan on taking "Always Critical" so in my case I need FM to excel in my role. That SVT is a close contender to the SKS. I am favoring the SKS over it because SVT has a rather costly AP cost for Aimed-shot by comparison and it's median damage is lower than the SKS, though I'm not sure just how much it's extra penetration will compensate for that. I hardly ever find myself using snipe mode, unless it's a very wide-open map, so the loss of scope is no big deal to me. I think both are great choices at this point. Thanks for the input.

  20. It seems every time I get semi-familiarized with a rifle, a new better one pops up in the shop. I have at the moment the Manlicher Carcano Scoped with 20 Familiarization. There are few new models on the market, like the SKS 45, 98K -Scoped- the SKS in particular looks quite powerful, my question is, should I upgrade to that now or is something much better on the horizon ? I just don't want to waste time familiarizing myself every mission.
  21. I don't have any mods at all. The only thing I have changed is the Camera and keybinds. I keep trying in case the problem fixes itself, but it's still red and Medic has no injury at all. Plus she can also use many other medical items just fine. This kinda sucks, because I have tonnes of these items but can't use them lol. I'm hoping that unlocking "Perfect medicine Knowledge" will influence it, or unlock it. She will get that next level.
  22. I have asked this on the Steam forums to no avail. I also tried googling it but there were no results. The description says the prerequisites are Medicine skill - 70 and the Master medic ability. My medic has both requirements, but it is still a red item and it cannot be used by her. I have the exact same problem with the Haemostatic Liquid, Forceps, Abbey and First aid Kit. Medic has 104 Medicine skill and the Master Medic ability. Is this a bug, or did I miss something ?
  23. I made it to the prison but apparently 3 intelligence is not enough to trick the guard, so now I shoot everyone ? Am guessing this results in a shorter bad ending or something.
  24. Ok thanks. I had to load a save all the way back to when Claus was harassing us. There goes 3 hours of scavenging, fighting and managing items lol. They really should have named this game "Save-scum Simulator 2005" :S
  25. This being my first play-through of the game I thought it would be wise to go back to Gaffbourgh and sell all the weapons before going to the Convoy area. When we arrived, the trucks had already passed through. We got to some town where the Police wanted us to surrender. Not taking too kindly to that sort of thing, Sander's and I shot their faces off and now cower like rats in this rather linear sewer system. Have I no choice but to fight the US army ? Seems those pricks won't leave me alone.
