  1. ever since ufo terror from the deep i have wanted to play as the aliens rather than the boring humans...dont get me wrong - i love the ufo series, but wouldnt it be so much more fun to send ufo craft scouting out earth, harvesting humans and creating alien bases that look like they have come out of an austen powers film?
  2. haha never even bothered with that...i didnt get past the satisfaction of the gatling cannon!!!
  3. hmm i think i remem getting one without ammo..dont worry just do some more missions
  4. yeah it was a bit wierd controlling aliens - you cant use your original soldier which is a bit wierd...but anyway it felt a bit cheap controlling them and then executing them...personally i like the old fasioned way
  5. btw yes you do need heavy armour to carry the big weaps - u need capacity excellent at least...once I got those heavy wepaons reticulan killing was very easy for me - especcially in ufos... but i found before i got that sniper rifles were the best - and all that other advice bromley gave about spreading out etc is essential. if some1 gets shot with a rocket, while he runs away your other men can then stand and shoot.
  6. I remember controlling aliens without too much trouble...within 3 shots I would have them and i wouldnt damage them - check the weapons out in the glossary that will tell u...
  7. Fox dont ruin it for yourself! and please everyone dont spoil the game...You will enjoy it more if u dont know wot will happen IMO...........
  8. very true... I love the aliens in ufo am but a couple of hybrids of reticulans or something would have been cool - perhaps if they had large monsters they kept along with them as guards?? It would have been good to have a little bit more focus on the monsters - in research as well as combat (like only being able to research new armour after research certain alien autopsies like in terror from the deep?)
  9. yeah i found this annoying as well...when your cursor is over the icon of the armour it tells you which armour it is, but you cannot see your soldier's armour stats for head and body unless you r in a mission...
  10. Yeah the game is quite random like that which is good - I think is was especially unlucky because the first mission i saw them using guns other than lasers was a crashed BATTLESHIP..which meant they were armed with either psionics (and bio armour), railguns (which werent too bad just very long range) or launchers...15 of them outside. I must admit it was the only point i had to use godmode (i tried for about 3 hours without it). I suppose it is fair enough that that part was so hard - it was a battleship - but i found the next 10 missions against reticulans very hard. When I got the heavy weapons it was suddenly very easy - one man in improved heavy armour with the twin machine gun (and the the gatling gun) could take on most of the reticulans single-handed...
  11. This is probably one of the greatest and most unpolished games i have ever played. The patches improve it greatly, but i still found the game lacking in many areas. The lack of formations meant that in a serious mission you would have to move your men one by one; the game sometimes did not pause when I saw new enemies and the weapons were very unbalanced. The soldier improvement was perfect - the game was the perfect length for the amount of experience your soldiers gain - however the voices were (as everyone says) very annoying and played much too frequently. It was great to see that the game was still heavily rooted in the style of gaming of ufo: enemy unknown and terror from the deep - the research was similarly fantastic as was the overall management. The research relied a little too heavily on weaponry, and perhaps more focus on autopsies to give new research (not just the transgenant theory) would have made it a little more interesting.. The step up of alien weaponry was too sudden - in the space of one mission they went from laser weapons to railguns, launchers and serious psionics. I would have liked to see it be a little more gradual, so that also your research list would not suddenly triple in size. The gliches were dwarfed by all its gameplay, changing story and strategic management. I was very impressed with it, and liked the improvements in graphics and gameplay compared with the previous games in the series. Nice one cenega and altar!
