  1. One of the reasons I like the X-Com series so much is because it's turn based. Personaly I hate the idea to mould X-Com into an FPS. Brr... But nontheless I'm very interested in the look and feel of the game, but I certainly wouldn't upgrade my PC for it. *crosses his fingers for turnbased asskicking of aliens*
  2. Thanks for the replies. I hope they won't ruin the game by making it an FPS. That would really turn me off. Well we're used to waiting so what's another few months, heh?
  3. Hi all, Are there any new rumours about the X-Com game by Irrational Games? Maybe even some real prove?
  4. Alrighty then! I've just downed a bomber and an escort. Fantastic! I really hate those escorts, they are very difficult to hit and have that stunning missile. Grr... There were two bombers and two escorts. I focussed on one of each and largely ignored the other two. I decided to investigate the escort first. And to my amazement I found a Megaspawn inside (I haven't attacked an escort for quite some time). I immediately wounded it and then stunned it with Stun Grenades. Praise the game for those wonderful things! It was however quite tricky to protect the stunned Megaspawn, but I succeeded. Yeah! Then it was time to attack the bomber and catch the hated Micronoid Aggregate. I dispatched a large portion of the crew pretty quickly. Then I found three MA's (as is usual in a bomber at superhuman difficulty). One of them was killed accidently by a scared Skeletoid. The stupid sod fired a Dimension Missile at the MA. I was attack with Psi quite a few times before I could direct my lone android with a Stungrapple to the scene. I wounded both MA's and then quickly stunned them with the Stungrapple. I was so happy at the moment. My first couple of live MA's! When I got back at my base I had captured two missing live aliens. Pretty cool. Then I wanted to transport them to my research base, but ran into a problem. Megapol would attack the Transstellar vehicle and thus destroy my precious life aliens in the process. In the end I managed to evade the police hovercars and get the transport safely to my research base. Phew... When I researched the life MA, I got another "surprise", I didn't get any new tech. Not very cool. Now I only need the Psimorph and the Queen. All this leaves me with another question: - How do I transport my stuff (Alien Artefacs and Aliens) with my own vehicles? Very cool there are reports of the capture of life Overspawns. I hope when another Overspawn is dropped I can capture both the Mothership and the Overspawn. Oh yeah, Diablo suddenly turned against me. I can't negotiate with them anymore. This happened without any alien infiltration. I read about this happening on this forum. It's really annoying. Ah well, too bad. A minor glitch in a great game.
  5. Yikes! I ran into an Overspawn yesterday. The yellow creep almost ate my whole city. Cool to see though. Is it possible to capture the freak alive? Oh, still haven't had a chance to visit the alien dimension to capture a live Micronoid Aggregate.
  6. Simple, grow more of those fancy mushrooms.
  7. Hahaha... nice description. So, possibly only the Micronoid Aggregate is a "real" alien. Why then not make more Queens and hatch aliens more quickly? Ah well, if we were the aliens in this game we would do it so much more effectively. Those X-Com idiots wouldn't stand a chance.
  8. Hehehe... that's just a downright sneaky tactic. As soon as I've captured a Micronoid Aggregate I'll post again. Maybe even a small story as to how I captured it. Another question about the alien creatures. Are the Queen and the Micronoid Aggregate are the only "real" aliens in this X-Com adventure? The rest are just bio-engineered? The break with the traditional aliens from X-Com UFO Defense and X-Com TFTD (and the cool retro-style of this X-Com world) are what make me love this episode of X-Com. If I had the time I would love to remake all the 3D models, maybe even the superhuman cityscape. Wow, that would be so cool.
  9. Fantastic! So much good advise! This is absolutely fantastic! I really appreciate all the advise you guys give. Quite fun to hear so much about the game I almost revere. I never bothered much with the Biotransport, I've always gone for the Retaliator and the Annihilator. But mostly only the Retalliator, I just love that ship with the enignes at the tip of it's wings. Much more beautiful than the Annihilator. Also the Biotransport doesn't have that much place for armaments. So the hit and run attacks on the aliens in their own dimension is the way to get them angry. I keep hoping for them to send me an assault ship and a two bombers, that was the case the first time. When I get home I'll start attacking the aliens on their turf.
  10. It's always about the bonusses, isn't it? Hehehe... I've been hoping the aliens would send in another couple of bombers, but nothing sofar. So the first alien building do you say heh? Okay, off to the sleeping chambers! Thanks!
  11. Okay, I didn't know the Personal Disruptor Shield caught/neutralises all the shots from the Stungrapple. That explains a lot. I've yet to encounter a few more Micronoid Aggregates, so I haven't had the opportunity to try and stun them. Hope the aliens will send some my way pretty quick. Thanks for the feedback guys. Thumbs up for you. Oh, and I've always been able to complete the game without a live MA. Sometimes it was quite a struggle, but doable. I hope I'll get some more exciting tech. I can't believe I've never tried stunning a MA before. Stupid me. A game wich is 10 years old still holds sectrets for me. Edit: typo's
  12. Thanks for all the comments, very cool. I've been playing around with Stungrapples, but I don't like them very much. I've tried stunning poppers and hyperworms. They dropped down quite well, they are lower class aliens. But against antropods, skeletoids and the other higher class aliens, they don't do much. Of course I first wound the alien I want to stun first and then try to stun it, but to no avail. No matter how much I try, the sucker won't go down. I don't need a live antropod or live skeletoid, it's purely to get to know the weapon. But it does make me worry how the Stungrapple will fare against a Micronoid Aggregate and even worse; a Psimorph ( ). I mostly rely on Toxiguns, because a Devastator Cannon will most of the time kill a MA with one shot. I've always disliked Psi (Hey, I'm not an alien and Psi is an alien weapon. The grudge goes back two wars. ) Any thoughts on how to proceed?
  13. Hmm... so kill all the aliens first, then try to stun the MA with a Stungrapple. I really don't like stungrapples, they run out of ammo very quickly. I'll bring a lot of those then. I'll miss out a lot of tech?! Okay time to stun one of those babies. Thanks for the swift reply, much appreciated.
  14. Hi all, I just ran into a few Micronoid Aggregate. I've never been able to capture those alive, so I have a couple of questions about them. 1) How to catch a MA alive? 2) What tech do you miss when you won't capture a live MA?
  15. Damn, that soldier was one tough and lucky hombre. Good read btw. Loved the story. I hope more people will write a piece of text. Thumbs up!
  16. Hi all, I've tried both solutions (DosBox and VM) and both work for me. The strange thing is that I couldn't install VM2007. It came with some sort of error and wouldn't install. So DL'ed VM2004 and that works just fine. The DosBox solution isn't such a big headache. I found it quite easy to do. I could be a bit more work for those who never laid eyes on DOS, but overall I was very content at how fast I was able to run X-Com Apocalypse. The solution of VM caused quite a shock. It almost made me fall from my seat to be more accurate. I was happily making my first virtual disk and went on to installing Win98SE. When the install begins it always formats the HDD. So the screen read "Formatting Disk C". I got scared and shut off the program as soon as possible and checked if all my data on the real C-disk was still present. Just to be sure I restarted my computer and checked again. Then my brains kicked in and I started to think like I should. Of course VM formatted the C-disk, but only inside VM. It wasn't a a real disk. That's the whole purpose of VM. Doh! Damn, that was scary. My only questions are about making an ISO with Alcohol 120%. Could someone please post a short "how to"? And how do I put this ISO on my virtual C-disk? Some more info about this would be greatly appreciated. And to all those people that worked on making it possible again to play my much beloved X-Com Apocalypse on XP: Two thumbs up, very cool!!
  17. You could just have posted a reply without that pic... Now it takes almost forever to load.
  18. Wow, great stuff! Thanks for the reply. And sorry for my late reply... I really hope to read more news at the end of this year. Why this late if I might ask? Busy in real life, trouble with the program?
  19. Alrighty then!! 1101 is back! Can't wait to explore the site. Great to see you here again! I hope the project still goes strong. Maybe you could tell us something about the progress of the project, something like a developers diary. I always like to read those.
  20. Okay, thanks for the answer! I can't wait untill 1101 is online again and has some positive news about the website.
  21. Is the there a site of UFO 2007 Unkown Project online? Because the links in the first messages of this thread are dead.
  22. Truely a grand project! I hope we hear more from your group very soon. I've read through all the docs in about two days. I want more!
  23. Uriel: I've send you an e-mail. Thanks for sending me one! We be in touch...

    3D Models

Hahaha... LOL! Maybe he's able to force them to make a remake of Apocalypse, with more of the same.
