  1. Also, it looks like number of Xcom and ponies fans is pretty high: http://img.ponibooru.org/_images/02c5daa377cd0e8fcbd5fad8e94e5268/22599%20-%20crossover%20webcomic%20X-Com.png http://img.ponibooru.org/_images/6a5b6682a012def8284692877b28af6e/2276%20-%20%3E%3A(%20Magic%20crossover%20gun%20xcom.jpg

  2. Was just a having a little chuckle recollecting the Mudranger from Morken's screenshot graphic novel from a while back - and remembering the UFO TV series and how they went about clearing the UFO crash zones and sending their SHADO Mobiles in to assault the UFOs (transported to the site on disguised trucks or aircraft). That obviously got me wondering whether something similar can be done in UFO - put in an armoured personnel carrier as the transport for a change of pace. I know we've got graphic replacement mods for walls, scenery, etc. So that would be no problem replacing the actual images. But there are various problems that would be associated with this, and it makes me wonder if it's even possible. So I thought I'd ask those that are in the know if this idea is even feasible. Two things that concern me are the number of graphic tiles that can be used to make up the APC. Are they limited or can then be expanded? I think an APC would be far less elaborate than a Skyranger, but it's stiill good to know what sort of limitations there are. Second, would the MCD records need to be adjusted as well? Third is troop placement - can they be moved about? At least, without having to rely on XComutil? I was hoping such a thing could be made to stand on its own. - NKF Edit by BB: Here's the finished thing!

  4. Hello, With the use of Bomb Bloke's wonderful Hack tool to grab the images and some editing, I've just completed a playable version of Port terrain (which I consider the best terrain of both games) to replace the Terror Site on Enemy Unknown. Features: * 4 new maps (a N/S railtrack, a W/E row of warehouses and a 20x20 new building). * Some adaptations to existing maps/maps removed because of the next point. * The sea elements have been removed and instead of a port facility the terrain now looks more like an industrial/railyard area. * The terrain is very hard to destroy, unless you are using alien weaponry. :/ * Lots of flying by the aliens - and expect the AI surprising you... * LOTS of explosions! Watch out for those barrels! To install, first make a backup copy of the /MAPS, /ROUTES and /TERRAIN subfolders on the UFO Defense folder. Afterwards simply unzip the attached file you to the main UFO folder and answer Yes to replace all the files. All new Terror Sites will now use the new terrain instead. UFO Terrain Mod

Hi, this is Dawn City, a replacement terrain for UFO Defense Terror Sites. It was developed from a terrain originally created for UFO2000. Dawn City Terror Site Release.zip Features The roads have been replaced by rows of warehouses and apartments with 3 levels. All maps are new or redesigned. Terrain is harder to destroy, like Port on Terror From The Deep. Almost all spawn points are active - aliens start more randomly scattered around the Battlescape. Power blackout - none of the terrain lights work. To further increase the difficulty I strongly suggest you install kyrub's alien AI patch. It becomes more fun (and deadly...) UPDATE (June 6th) - Dawn City released, no more releases planned unless for bug fixes. Rest of the project to replace terrains stopped (lack of time).

  9. Had a bit of free time, so managed to complete all the major exterior cladding for the APC. Effectively complete, but I anticipate probably one or two more iterations before it's (visually) ready to go. About 36 unique tiles so far (out of the Skyranger's 63). My next step is to make all the front half of the roof tiles unique so I can do similar panel seams like I've done on the back half. That radar is a separate piece from the mount, so I might try and doodle a few more technical doohickies and see which one works best. Then there's the interior to tidy up. Would vertical handrails like those found in buses for standing passengers work? Some of the excess floor space needs to go along the far wall as well. edit: Come to think of it - that radar looks like a miniature mad-science-y death beam. That's certainly not the case. - NKF
