MISSING / CUT CONTENT

Yes folks... there is such a thing like in all x-com games.

I one day listened to all the WAV files in sound folder. There are few things that I noticed.

1. Reinforcements  - yes there was some kind of reinforcements system. You could call them in battle and they either were available or not. Probably if you were fighting against very hard opponents and your wingman were out you could just wait a few minutes and guys from other base would come to help you. If you have installed Interceptor (steam version for example) go to SoundFX/chatter/ComputerVoice - files Comp22.wav and Comp23.wav
Or in chatter there are pilots voices - for example XPilotx57.wav - where X = F/M (female/male) and x = 1-5 (voice number)

2. Scripted missions

This one is found in news.txt file in Text folder

@SM-6_WIN
@headline=GSC Observatory Destroyed in Supernova
@text=The Galactic Science Corps observatory in the [SYSTEMNAME] system was lost when the star its crew was monitoring prematurely went supernova last week. Evacuation of the station's scientists and crew was hampered by a surprise alien raid, but was ultimately successful thanks to the assistance of X-COM forces.

@SM-4_WIN
@headline=GSC Praises X-COM for Daring Rescue
@text=The Galactic Science Corps released a statement praising the daring rescue of the crew of the "GSC Schwartzkopf" which had been damaged and trapped an alien minefield in the Frontier. "X-COM risked everything to make sure those scientists got out alive," said Dr. William J. Burton, president of the GSC council. "We owe them a great debt."

@SM-10_WIN_TOTAL
@headline=X-COM Assists in Rescue of Tourists
@text=The evacuation of the passengers and crew of the "Galactic Empress" would not have been possible if not for the timely intervention of X-COM forces. The North Star Lines passenger vessel became trapped when it strayed too close to the [SYSTEMNAME] black hole. Rescue efforts were hampered by the intervention of an alien fighter squadron, which X-COM was able to dispatch. As a result of this near-disaster, Sams of Southampton, insurer of the North Star cruise ships, is insisting on the cancellation of the cruise line's popular "Black Hole Bonanza" sightseeing package.

There are numerous missions they are tagged as:

;--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
;PLAYER-SPECIFIC REPORTS
;--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
; These reports appear as the result of something the player actually does
; in the game - specifically, when he/she fails or wins in a mission, scripted
; or otherwise.
;--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They never shows... Only such different missions are:

1. Pirates
2. Arms Dealer
3. Rogue Frigate.

There are no voices for those missing actions so they probably never went to development plan. Too bad because it would add something special to the game.

Very good coverage there, silencer. Thanks for going through all that trouble in explaining things, what with different endings, extras and all. :)

Great AAR, Silencer!

I'm buying cereals more often from now on, who knows when a nice alien artifact shows up in them?!

btw there is another way to kill ships in superhuman.  Only take one pilot, and the longest range weapon you can find and then fly backwards at full speed.  Let them get close to in range of your weapons, then start firing.  The game will act like you are at shorter range than it says and they are at longer range because you are both in motion.  (Try not to think about the physics of light/em based weapons)

If they get close enough to start hitting you just turn around or hit the afterburner for a bit.  They will heal but if you do it right they won't heal fast enough to prevent you from killing them eventually.

This takes a while, but you can kill all 9 ships in one mission with a single pilot on superhuman.

But if you are not playing superhuman, this works quickly.  I never send more than one guy on a mission.
