Interceptor Storyline

I'm currently writing something in regards to the X-COM timeline. I looked at the timeline on the site here, but not only do I not want to copy it... I noticed it's not a perfect match to the games.

I do not own X-COM Interceptor, so I was wondering if anyone would be so wonderful as to give me a rundown of it's storyline, start to finish.

Nothing really detailed. Just a synops. I'll be glad to give a forum cookie to whomever does. :)

Right here goes but it's all of the top of my head so sorry for anything that's blatantly misplaced and I also apologise upfront for the numerous spelling and grammar mistakes I am about to commit and ignore...

I'm taking this from all the timelines I've evr sen as well as the actual game and the beginning of my Interceptor fic. (Coming to cyberspace near you Feb 2027)

This is how I've written the intro...

The destruction of T'Leth over the Mexican Gulf has rendered much of central America uninhabitable due to the poisonous smog it now produces. The smaller towns and cities are evacuated to the smog and evacuees disperse throughout the lobe. As the pollution reaches larger cities te government attempts to stem the destruction by building massive 'Recyclotrons' (ref: Apocalypse)

These recyclotrons act as massive air filter and purifiers making the polluted air breathable again. Built only around the largest American cities to act as sanctuaries for millions of refugees, the recyclotrons form an impenetrable wall and slowly begin to combat the pollution in the air.

As time passes more and more recyclotrons are constructed to combat the pollution until the city Mega Primus becomes the first truly safe city in America due to an entirely enclosed city perimeter. The outskirts of the city are demolished and reforested allowing the vegetation to disperse some of the gases and pollutants from the atmosphere before the recyclotrons finally purify the air to a breathable level as it reaches the city.

This is how the world's first 'Mega-city' came into being and it is also why the American government began searching for another ray of hope in the darkness. A new beginning, another chance. They looked to the stars for sanctuary and in the clustered inner rim of the Milky Way, they found what they were seeking.

Using the last remnants of Elerium from the first alien war, America began construction of enormous colony ships to transport billions of families, industries and communities to a new beginning in space. Prefabricated mining platforms, fabrication facilities, refineries and space stations were all flown unimaginable distances to their new home where life began again for America.

On arrival in what was now dubbed 'The Frontier' the numerous stations and colonies took up obrits around nearby planets, stars or asteroids. Running now on conventional fuel the frontier developed slowly but once again there was peace for those who had managed to escape Earth.

As time went on in the frontier it flourished but was soon beset by pirates and criminals who would raid unarmed factories and convoys to stay afloat in this new life. Marsec was called to the frontier to provide a police and security force for the population there but in time the threat grew too large for them to handle.

The world's most elite fighting force and twice saviours were called to the frontier to begin oerations against the vast pirate threat. Operations began and continued normally and successfully but it soon became apparent that the enemy here was not simply pirate in origin.

As technology was retrieved rom destroyed hostile ships it became obvious that these foe were not human. Finally, an Ethereal corpse was dragged from a burning saucer and X-Com returned to it's alien hunting days.

As the war continued, the alien resistance in the area became larger as did the pirate raids, presumably under alien influence. The alien raiding prties soon became bold enough to attack facilities and even space stations deep within colonised space.

A terrifying discovery was soon made when an alien convoy was discovered transporting a massive component for some kind of space station. Completed the structure would be imeasurable in size and as time went on more components were blocked from reaching their destination.

After months of researching these strange components X-Com scientists finally reached horrifying conclusion. These componnts were those of a superweapon, larger than a planet an capable of turning even the most fertile globe into a glorified dustball.

The search for an alien frontier began and probes were dispatched to every corner of the inner rim. Nothing was found and the probes were soon destroyed or in some cases contact was lost completely. On one occasion however a probe was succesful at relaying vitl information before destruction.

Probe 247a was lost to a blackhole soon after deployment but it was later witnessed to begin transmitting again from inside the anomaly. It recorded several minutes of alien activity before being destroyed by enemy fighters. Visible in the transmitted footage was the alien superweapon neaing compleion despite X-com's attempts to prevent carriage of components through the frontier.

With a structure so large nearing completion it was impossible to destroy without a similar weapon. With new warp technology it was made possible to enter the alien dimension through the blackhole discoverd by the initial probe but with no means of destroying the weapon it would be a suicide mission.

It was soon obvious what had to be done, and preparations were made to launch a final attack on alien space.

The Nova Bomb was produced as a one shot star killer, impossible to destroy once it had achieved it's top speed. It would be escorted until it reached this velocity and then the X-Com pilots present would evacuate befor impact destroyed the system and collapsed the wormhole.

A Patton class vessel was fitted with the warpgate unit and gave passage to the five interceptors to fly this final mission. Once inside the alien dimension the mission was clear and the superweapn was operational.

With overwhelming odds and little time to deliver their deadly payload the pilots worked fast as the alien weapon came to bear on the USS Patton, their only escape from this living hell.

Not without losses, the missile achieved the required speed and the remaining pilots fled to the Patton for evacuation. The Patton engaged it's wrp drive just as the superweapon fired and jumped clear of the discharge barely seconds before the system collapsed around the Ethereal war machine annihilating everything present.

The alien dimension was shattered and the only known entry point was destroyed. The doomsday device was presumed destroyed and if this was not the case it was nonetheless incapable of returning to the frontier.

The fourth alien war had been won as had the third war on earth. It was never to be known that the two dimension wars were infact leading X-Com to the same galaxy... The thereals had infact been warring with the Apocalypse aliens for millenia. Sectoids had become a delicassy on thei homeworld and they were in fact even encountered on the alien planet when X-Com forces destroyed the alien dimension gates from their attacks on Earth.

It is incomprehensible to mankind that they are alone in the universe. What is more unbelieable howeer, is that they were never truly alone, and neer will be so long as they may survive the hostility of space...

The amusing thing about Interceptor is it's three endings:

1) You lose

2) You win the end battle and the Patton gets destroyed.

3) You win the end battle and the Patton survives.

It brought a bit of variety into the endings of the series I thought :)

I'd like to see another game based on some of what happened in Interceptor and based on The Veteran's logical conclusion to the aliens you see in Apocalypse - You thought battling Sectoids with Psionic poswers was difficult - try doing battle against 20 Mutons backed up by five Ethereals and a Psi-Lord whilst in the midst of another battle against Skeletoids, Poppers and Brainsuckers! :)

That three-way battle would indeed rule.

Guess who's back just in time to recieve awsome amounts of praise and revive a monthold thread! Glad you liked it dude. I thought that with all the things I keep promising to bring back and put online and then not doing any of them I might as well write it out again! And believe it or not... that's in brief :)

I have one small error to point out:

The ship used to destroy the superweapon was the PCS McArthur, not the UGS Patton. The Patton was lost while exploring Mars (which would have led on to Alliance)

The McArthur (or however it is spelt) was a Military vessel (so UGS prefix) but was decommisioned as a warship and the Pattons taken over by the Galactic Science Corps so their registry was changed to PCS (I assume Patton Class (Star)Ship) and had their old sublight thrusters replaced with the drive system of the day :)

Sorry to revive this ancient thread, but there is an official timeline between TFTD and Interceptor (since Interceptor prequels Apoc), which game with the game. I don't have it here, it's at home, but if you want, I can dig it out and summarise what it says.

There's whole tons of stuff about Kabron Pirates, X-Com Inc., and other funky stuff.

I know, you can find it on this website (not the forum). Something about Patton-class cruisers being built to combat pirates equipped with refitted Avengers. X-Com Inc. actually left for the Frontier and left the Earth-based "franchise" to Marsec. It's Marsec you're controlling in Apocalypse. The "real" X-Com were fighting space battles with Sectoids & Co.

Just rechecked this thread and it springs to mind that I now am online wherever my pc and I care to travel... So technically all this stuff I keep promising to put online can now go online :(

Can someone tell me what to do with this timeline? I forget what it actually is I wrote but I think it's the whole thing... I'll find it and check but is there somewhere I can upload it to when I find it?
