Gimli
Long story short, my USB stick is dead. I got some stupid virus on it that makes it write protected. I tried removing the virus with Avira and Avast, and although both detect it, neither one can remove it because of the write protection. I tried a number of things, but nothing seems to be working and even worse, I managed to get it to the point where there's no file system assigned to it and the stick needs to be formatted. But hey, guess what, I can't format it because of the write protection. I'm out of ideas now so I thought I'd ask here. Is there a way to format the stick outside of Windows? I'm using Win7 Pro 64 bit. It's a 16GB stick, so I'd like to get it back in working order.
