Boks
You will need to download ALPine to use this mod. Blood PatchRelease 0.1 Features:- Increases the amount of blood released when a unit is hit. This includes all unit types (soldiers, transgenants and reticulans).- Blood stays on the floor and doesn't dissapear (set to 30 mins).- Reticulan blood changed from yellow to blue. Please note, removing this plugin will invalidate TACTICAL MISSION games saved with this plugin IF there is blood on the floor. However, you are able to load a tactical mission saved game if it was saved at the start before any shots were fired.Games saved in the strategic view (geosphere) should not be affected by this plugin. I've not tested this plugin fully which is why it's v0.1, so it will need tweaking to get the best look and performance. Due to the fact that blood stays on the floor, this may cause some slow down later on in the mission when alot of blood has been spilt. It is advisable to save the game at the start of the mission incase the game slows down to such an extent that the rest of the mission becomes unplayable. I hope to address this possible issue in later versions once I get some feedback on how it performs . Positive feedback and constructive critisism are welcome . Slaughter
Hehe, what? You feel you should belong to it? They have some extra rights, like adding threads in the release forum (where I'll move this one), and add stuff to the Modding reference. I'll add you to that group now. shrapnel
For the life of me I can't get this mod to work - I uae alpine and everything seems to be installed well - alpine reports a good install. When I play the game I don't see the extra blood though.
Boks
Are you able to get any other ALPine plugins to work?Anyone else having any probs? Here's the vfs file for it if you can't get it to work with ALPine for some reason. Let me know if you still have any probs .
sigget
Could it be that you're using an old version of alpine that isnt compatible with your version of the game?
Slaughter
I just tested it shrapnel. I have UFO:Aftermath version 1.3, ALPine version 3.0.1 and the bloodpatch installed. Worked fine for me. What versions do you use?
Boks
What versions are incompatable? Did UFO:A 1.2 only look for cfg.vfs for mods, or something like that? I hadn't touched modding back in those days ??? So what versions of ALPine work with what versions of UFO:A? Cheers.
sigget
Yeah, version 1.2 and earlier read cfg.vfs and it had files that it only read from gamedata.vfs. I dont know if this is still the case though. You can test it if you want, rename gamedata.vfs to mod.vfs and create an empty gamedata.vfs. If the game runs as it should they fixed it. You'll have to into a mission to find out though cause it was files that had to do with unit animation that was affected.
shrapnel
I was using 2.4 - the vfs file Boks provided worked though.
davemartinez_34
 SUpoib! love thiz mod!! The only way forward with it would be to lessen the blood, make it less illuminous, have a bit of limb severage, and even a slow-mo death sequence for the Deceased!! (Like in the trailer movie) KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Slaughter
Yeah, that would be cool! And welcome to the boards!
davemartinez_34
need an official modding tool!
davemartinez_34
Thanx Slaughter! I think its great that there are people who are willing to put there time into mods for this game. I've completed it once already, and pretty much shelved it. But, i happened to look at the alpine plug in and tried it out. Its added a new dimention to the game. I dunno how much effort it would take to put limb severance in there (Probably tricky due to the 3d models). Slow mo deaths would be schweeet! Have Cenega got any plans to put in a Replay function that can be watched at the end of the mission as promised in the run up to the release? Sorry for the long post! Slaughter
I don't think ALTAR (the developer) will add a replay. That is just too big a feature to add in a patch. If there is an expansion or sequel they may though. As for the mods, they are indeed keeping this game, like any ohter, alive. Let's hope it stays that way for some time to come yet
davemartinez_34
True...i suppose a replay function would be a hell of alot of work, and a replay mod would be a nightmare to make. As for modding tools, i wouldnt mind getting into making my own alien species or transgeanant for the game. (Being an animation student) i think i could come up with some decent 3d models. Only problem is i haven't a clue on how to do it! if a universal modding tool was created, it would be nice to have the option of making your own transgeanant/alien.(i could collaborate with someone who knows about all that stuff + i could provide the models)
Slaughter
Sounds good! You are probably needed on the total conversions already in the works. And I think sigget and/or Boks is looking into some possibilities for a model plugin or something. Are you guys?
