I'm not sure whether this is awfully off-topic (if so, accept my appologies)  :D

Are there any patches / programs / emulators for playing UFO on W2K? I tried to run the game but I did not manage to get it working, no matter what settings I had (screen, memory, misc.).

Any help would be appreciated.

well... I have the same problem. Now I have a solution.
Ok, ok, ok... maybe it's not a great solution, but it's work and I'm playing right now.
I install Virtual PC from Connectix, you can download a trial from http://www.connectix.com/

I create a DOS machine and I can use my games now.

I hop eit can help.

Well, what exactly is the problem?

If it is the speed of the game, or the garbled graphics at the starts there's answers for that in the other threads here in the support forum. :D

Here's the solution. Go to  http://f0dder.has.it/ and click Misc. Download the thing and unzip to your UFO dir. It creates a folder called xcom, here are the files you need. Move them in the UFO root. Start the game via the new loader, voila fixed.
BOOKS! GET THEM OFF! GET THEM OFF ME!! ARGH!!!
