Thorondor
How can it be? How can it so deceptively remain hidden behind such a plainly pretty facade, the immense layering of a title the likes of Shallow Space and all it proposes to embrace.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHywApO3JNo Shallow Space is a 3D Real Time Strategy game inspired by Nexus: The Jupiter incident and Homeworld. Command elements of the Terran Confederate Navy's Gamma fleet as you dominate sectors of space tending to both random encounters and storyline missions. Mine resources to advance your capital ships, engage your capital ships in combat to improve your officer’s skills and produce smaller ships to compliment your fleet. Your fleet will comprise of Capital ships, Cruisers, Frigates and Wings. Wings form a grouping of the smallest ships such as Fighter and Bombers. Each class of ship has several variants which will be customisable in terms of weapon configurations and ship modules. The player will also be assigned special capital ships such as the Leviathan and Capital Carrier, these special ships house resource collectors, autonomous ship production facilities and special heavy weapons. The player will occupy one sector at a time providing policing and escort duties, harvesting resources and responding to random encounters. The fleet will be spread across the sector requiring the player to sometimes direct action on multiple fronts. At the same time TCN command will call upon the player to progress storyline missions. Each class of ship will have several variants for different tasks, each task will require the player to assemble packs of ships to respond appropriately and that appropriate response can take any number of forms making for very dynamic game-play. There is currently no set release date, but we hear plans are already underway for a Kickstarter campaign to take off in the not so distant future. A big thank you to Space Voyager at our forums for shuttling in and relaying this title's coordinates.

Space Voyager
An interesting piece of news! Into the room walks Vincent Van Diemen, the producer of ‘Nexus: The Jupiter Incident.’ Now Vincent has been watching the project for some time now on a facebook page that I update on frequently and I was pleasantly surprised when he came forward and offered his expertise on the project. And some beautiful fireworks.
Thorondor
That's a great development you've caught wind of there, SV. :: I say the fireworks are justified. Should prove an invaluable leg-up for Shallow Space.

Space Voyager
While I did change my views on Steam a bit (after Thor posted a few articles on how many games would never see the light of day without it), my choice will always be DRM-free if possible. Space Voyager
So, the IndieGoGo campaign was a bust, but the game is definitely being made. At IndieDB James shared some thoughts on the campaign, the reasons it was a bust, what happens next or can happen now. Worth taking a peak even if you're not into Shallow Space.
