Sooner rather than later, of course, and that's what Uber Entertainment is tantalizingly offering those willing to pre-order their upcoming real-time strategy game Planetary Annihilation.https://www.strategycore.co.uk/site/assets/files/5709/news-thumbnail_planetary_annihilation_pre_ordrs_bnr.jpg About the game: Planetary Annihilation is a next-gen RTS with gameplay never seen before. NoXTheRoXStaR
Isn't Pre Alpha basically mean it's still on paper?
Space Voyager
Being pre-alpha is everything before an alpha version is put together, meaning that it COULD only be on paper, too. But usually speaking of pre-alpha means that the game is pretty far in the development but there is no working version with all features (which would be beta). Space Voyager
Hmmmm... If there is this much micromanagement on a single planet, what happens in a game with multiple planets, moons, asteroids... I hope there is a lot of automation possible.

Space Voyager
Frankly I'm not even sure I'll play the ending product much... The more I see about the game the more micromanagement seems necessary. The thing that I really hoped would NOT be a necessary part of this game, as it was promised to be played on a much larger scale than a single planet. Naturally, it is in alpha stage and all, there is a lot to be yet discovered, but base building on every planet? Really?! I hope we catch a glimpse of "build the base" button soon. Thorondor
@SV Right, so here's a quick brief for you: - they basically start by talking about their ongoing implementation of HDR (High Dynamic Range) which will allow the game to handle a greater range of lighting conditions, better contrast, luminance, etc. Things like sunrises and explosions on the dark side of a planet are naturally going to benefit visually. They even show a death-star-ish metal planet (where everyone has really long hair no doubt ) to demonstrate how the interplay of light works in such a place. And, by the way, HDR will be optional, in the sense that you can switch it on/off at will should your PC prove unable to handle the added processing required. - then the guys at Uber went into a 3v3 match with people at the studio - it was said part 2 of the faction leader naming thing is coming shortly for backers to vote on - the new Raptor commander they just implemented makes its appearance. It looks pretty neat and sports a new chassis type but needs a little more tweaking, namely in terms of refined animation, before being put out there. Something which should nonetheless happen fairly soon though. - it is mentioned in passing that the latest patch introduced rather significant improvements in the AI and folks should check it out if they haven't played with it yet. More work is being done on it and apparently they're about to trust the AI with nukes... That should turn out alright. - also on the patch, regular navy has become better balanced and advanced navy seems to have made the cut too - the devs answered a few questions from the audience live while they played. Nothing major. Well, they did say work on other stuff is ahead, such as putting in the promised gas giants when time permits. :: By the end of their little game they managed to crash a moon atop another planet, simultaneously crashing their server, so that is surely the way to end it - even if there was no explosion.
