papadadfather
I'm at the endgame trying to capture a live commander to get the last research bits to finish the game. Two times I have stunned a Floater commander to unconsciousness with a Small Launcher, cleared the rest of the mission, yet there is nothing on "Live aliens captured". Is this a bug? I made double sure they were not dead, just unconscious. I have previously captured live aliens in this game. Also the Containment facilities are not full (and even if they were it'd still say live aliens captured I guess). The craft I am using is an Avenger. Bomb Bloke
If the alien was under mind control when you stunned it, the game won't realise that it should be captured.
papadadfather
Yeah it was, that's it. Both times. It only triggers if it's mind-controlled that exact moment you stun it? I can mind-control it, throw the gun away and stun it next turn?
Bomb Bloke
Yes, the bug only triggers if the alien is under mind control at the time you knock it out. Just disarm it, wait a turn, then stun away. The logic is that an alien unit is treated as "yours" so long as it's under your control. It doesn't revert back to being an "alien" if it's not conscious, and the game doesn't check "your" units at the end of combat to see if they should go into containment. Luckily you don't lose points for killing mind controlled aliens, but you DO lose morale.
papadadfather
That's nteresting. Pretty serious bug, especially regarding to the morale loss. Had no idea about that. Someday there will finally be a bug- and crash-free way to enjoy this game. Maybe for the 25th anniversary.
Tycho
I fixed this in TFTD Extender but with the new XCOM and OpenXcom nearing completion, I haven't made porting fixes to UFO Extender a high priority.
papadadfather
Cool. I had read about the OpenXcom project but I didn't know it was already so close to completion. I think I'll try to hold off on a replay until it is out.
