Probably they try to do everything, ie. make a trek game and then try and tweak it so it will be easy to pick up for the casual gamer(which most will see trek and think its nerdy and avoid it). So all you end up with is a wannabe trek game. They should look at what makes a game apart from the licence, like the Star Wars games, which have all been good, maybe not Force Commander. I've also heard that Trek Armada 2 and Bridge Commander were good trek games though i've never played them.
Well prod is a weapon, as powerups in worms are called utilities I think. In HL2 your gravity gun gets powered up to fling people just before you have the Pong final battle(sorry HL2 fans but that is what it is). Doom 3 also has a gravity gun in the expansion but for the original game it was left out rather than put in as a gimmick. Another gripe is I wish these reviewers who are clearly not proper gamers would stop saying Valve's physics engine or the Source physics, the engine used is Havok2 nothing to do with them. Another missing one is the Excalibat from rise of the triad, which was most likely the inspiration for the worms baseball bat as it also knowcked people flying.
They seem to focus more on weapons that are well known rather than how good they are. I mean the red turtle shell at number 3?! As a sidenote the gravity gun that can pick up people is technically a powerup.
My copy of oblivion actually arrived on time, in fact the distincitve thud of it falling through the letter box is what woke me up Better than any alarm clock.
Don't feel bad, i found a copy of S2 for something like £4.99 at Game Nation, which i got so i could try it out. Then about 3 days later i checked out a new Total Entertainment in town and they had S2 Gold for £1.99
Yeah, i thought it was quite good too. I think its prob cos people went 'ick warhammer' instead of playing it. I had to download it off to web to actually get hold of it.
Still working on getting models to put in the map is all. Modelling them isn't terribly difficult, but texturing them can be. I've found a thing on how to texture in maya so just need to get to grips with it.
i would have a go with it in maya, but i haven't used the tool that lets you make indentations and stuff, aslo have no idea where its hiding atm. Tho i also have to work on a few map models, and i can't find the list we of needed models. So hopefully i can recall some and dont end up duplicating any models.
