The pics were great. It just seems such a tall order to build a game/mod that has to compare with X-Com In the beginning I thought Aftermath was going to be X-Com exactly with just better graphics. Wonder if that's still not a bad idea.
I dont know, this game is so old and so addictive. I've had Medal of Honour unplayed for a month next to my PC because I'm taken up fighting Snakemen. Anyway.... I was in a terror sight last night and the Cryssalids were in force. I was trying to Psi a zombie (the things the Cryssalids turn the people in to) and suddenly thought I dont ever remembering capturing one of those things...can you?
I've finally come across these guys again at a terror site. Usually I try and hide from them as they just take over your mind like there's no tomorrow. I have'nt got enough Psi ability to do it back to them yet and just wondered what tactics you guys use. I had thought of useing the blaster bombs but was a bit worried about the civilian poulation. :dontgetit:
Gee, I'm playing through the game again (4th time). It's been years since I played it last time. I cant remember if I should have captured the sectoid leader by now? It's April. I seem to remember if you dont get him it takes ages for the sectoids to appear again.
Laser rifles all the way. I research like crazy to get them to replace the rifles. No ammo trouble and low cost of auto fire. The only heavy weapon I bother with is the missile launcher with way points. I dont usually bother with grenades either. As soon as I get 4 guys who are trained well with psi all the rest get ditched and the rest of the skyranger room taken up with hover tanks. I've played the game about 4 times and keep drifting towards these tactics.
Hi, I just wondered if there was a higher res mod for X-Com, in the same way that JDoom adds a higer res game to DOOM complete with lens flares. Just wondered, if I dont know what I'm talking about I give you permission to tell me
- Should there be mulitplayer options? No, it just has never felt that sort of game. - Should the game have an A.I.? No, they're sneaky enough as it is. - Should it be playable via network? No, see answer 1 - Should the soundengine be applied (like in Example1 and Example3)? ? Dont know. - Should the new Endurance engine be applied (like in Example2)? ? Dont know again (sorry) - Should units be equipable? So you can add some stuff? Yes definatley. Equipment ideas: Night vision glasses and day vision glassses to give you more line of sight. Sniper rifle to pick them off at a distance.
Thanks Alan for your help. I could'nt get the first 2 links to load, i got timed out on the connection. the third link I have downloaded and will try tonight (at work presently). I seem to remember the other fix created an icon like a star or yellow flower (does that ring any bells). Anyway, thanks again Alan Morsey
I tried searching for this subject but I kept getting an error, so first off I apologise if you have seen this question a hundred times. I have been playing X-Com 1 very succesfully, I had a scrunched screen but downloaded a fix for it and TFTD. I recentl had a computer rebuild (Windows 98se) after installing XP and not likeing it. Now when I reloaded X-Com I have'nt got the fix anymore and have just spent hours looking for it but to no avail. Does anyone have it, as I am back to the scrunched or squashed screen look again. Thanks for any help. Morsey
