LtHavoc
Since XeD did not work on faster computers I managed after some searching find the source for it, or atleast 1.4-alpha 4, and the recompile it. The search in my company's dusty drawers to find Turbo Pascal 7.0 is story to tell another day So those having trouble running it can get it from herehttps://www.pegasi.org/havoc/stuff/xed14_recompiled.ace Source included for those who wants to recompile it themselves. DragonHawk
Nice, thanks for your work. Err... what is an ACE file though? Please inform the unenlightened (including me).
LtHavoc
www.winace.com Fighting with RAR over the crown of being the most efficient compression proggy. Should have made it zip, my brain is mush today. --Lt
DragonHawk
Nah, this gives me an excuse to play with another utility. I loved XeD, and was distraught when it didn't work on my computer... Heh, I never even figured out why. Hopefully yours will work.
LtHavoc
The reason it did not work was that Turbo pascal has a small routine that at startup tries to determine the computer speed (for timing purposes, Delay() for example). Problem was that with the computers of today this calibration went way too fast and it ended up with a division by zero. (and no, i did not find that out by myself. Usenet is a nice thing) --Lt
Crazy Photon
Nice work LtHavoc Yes, ACE and RAR rock! pity that not many people use it here... And yes, the TP7 problem is a very known one... applications get a runtime 200 error on computers with a CPU faster than 200 Mhz... Luckily there's a patch floating in the net that corrects that bug
