Alien Probes

Interesting problem with Alien Probe at 0.00 km.  Did you try the external view?  The probe might actually have glitched into your ship.

Well, if it's in there, then it's too small to be seen. As far as I can tell, it just doesn't spawn. I'm about to try the simplest XP fix of all... compatability mode.

There are several posts here all talking about the same thing, hey Tammy, maybe you sould set up a pinned thread regarding things that stay at 0.00km?

Anyway, I've noticed that it does this to the alien probes/jammers, it also does this for alien bases and pirate bases. I don't think that it does this with human outposts. Some people say that it is caused by the NTFS file system but it happened on my copy of 2000 running FAT32, as for the theories about the difference in size regarding the unsigned integers, that could well be it as most games are written in C/C++ and the data types and several other aspects of the language are notoriasly (pardon my poor spelling) platform dependent.

Looks like the matter will not be resolved any time soon (unless someone contacts those nice people who released the game but of course there is no money to be made in supporting old products)

:)

There's a way to get around this without cheating or deleting the probes. This works with all enemies. Yes, it is cheating, but then, you can argue that the game's also cheating. Besides, it's just to destroy a probe, and if you can't do this by yourself without any effort. . .

At the CSD screen, press [CTRL]+[E]. You'll hear a series of beeps. Then, type "battlecheats." You'll hear another series of beeps. You've now activated the ability to use cheats during battle. Now you're set. The next time you run into into a buggy enemy, press [CTRL]+[`]. The targeted enemy will be automatically destroyed. After the target is destroyed, your after shields will take a beating, but they won't go under the Dark Green level. Then your ship will go completely unresponsive. Don't worry, just hit the Hyperdrive. The ship will start spinning out of control, but the Hyperdrive will activate nonetheless in 5 seconds. Although your ship will not be shown leaving the battlefield, the mission will be successful. If additional enemies appear (usual just a couple Wraiths) use this trick again, as you won't be able to normally attack them (they'll be stuck behind you at -0.00km, and besides, your ship will still be unresponsive).

There are other cheats like this, but there is no justification for using them, so I will not list them here. The above shouldn't be considered actually cheating because it is to get around a bug. However, it's different if you use it more often. . .

Sometimes you'll get this bug on alien Outposts, OPPs, and Bases. It's your call whether you wanna use this trick on something like that. . .

Hi guys i'm new here and this is my first post!

I got the same problem, BUT I SOLVED IT!!!

its simple: you go on full speed, fire your beam weapons until their power is on lets say 10%, then fire all your missiles as fast as you can! then the probe simply blows up and you can hyperspace home.

i got the same problem with the pirate base and this doesnt work.

but at lease one problem less......
