Why? If I want things to be harder I can modify the numbers myself, can't I? Fixes of bugs in the original game should be standard on on, but brand new stuff and changes should be standard on off; and every variable should be in the ini file, so you don't have to go guess whether or not something exists, and what name it was given.
The number of Roswell crashes do need to diminish, though. It's ridiculous; the damn things crash more often than they don't. I've got the 19th crash and I've shot down 5 or so, and about 4 or 5 ships manage to escape.
So I found my original unaltered exe and I can now play the game. Interestingly enough I'm now getting the first part of NaskyG's bug; crashes on top of my base. I took a closer look and it isn't UFOs that are crashing, at least not with me, it's my very own ships. Interceptors and Skyrangers are claimed to crash into my base whenever they land there. Very strange.
Trying an .ini without video options did not help either. And I didn't see an attach file option in the PM composer, so attaching it right her then, just changed extension. UFOLoader.txt
Windows 7 64-bit. I don't have a UFOExtender_patched.exe, only a UFOLoader.exe. I can't imagine anything that isn't in there being a problem; as it worked fine before. The TFTDExtender also works fine. But I'll try it out later. Tried no .ini; game crashed just as the screen after the intro was complete; as opposed to but a tiny scare. Tried video only, tried video and bug fixes only; no difference. Windowed or fullscreen makes no difference. PS: before anyone asks; just starting vanilla xcom without the loader the game starts fine, even if the mouse cursor color and button colors in geoscape are a little messed up.
Hey, Tycho, Thanks for all the work, but I have a strange problem: I was playing on the latest version, but with a .ini that came from the download instructions of UFOpeadia.org; with commentary with links to UFOpeadia.org in it. Strange thing was, the TFTD doors wouldn't work, or at least I thought it didn't work. Not sure; but I alwasy thought you could open doors in TFTD and the extender next to the door; maybe you have to actually stand right in front of it? Anyway, I redownloaded the extender, and all the files were the same, same dates, except the .ini. Well, what the heck, I figured; overwrite the .ini, try it from scratch. Start it again; when I click load game, Xcom crashes straight to windows, didn't even see any error message. After that; it didn't even get that far anymore; now it crashes right after the intro. I don't see any error message, just back to the desktop. I have no clue why this is happening, no clue what setting could cause this; here's my .ini Please, help. UFOExtender.txt
