[adding a new head model for one of your unit]

Hello everyone,

 

after i finally found a way to extract my vfs files without errors , i started working on a reskin.

 

so far i was able to switch head between the units i own ingame ( replacing the male01 file with the human elder face in my modded vfs )

 

but when i try to rename , say humanelder -> human99 , and edit my savegame and change the value of the first unit you get ( keith) it doesn't work.

 

in short :

 

if i rename humanelder head model to male01 ( wich is keith heads model ) my mod works

but if i try to add a new model : humanelder.txt renamed male99 and i edit my savegaming pointing keith head model to male99 instead of male01 it doesnt work.

 

anyone know what i'm missing here? since i would like to add my own units models with custom .tga faces eyes etc.

i messed with the windows's file protector ( start , config panel , system , advanced parameters, click parameters under performances , data prevention tab , and add an exception with sigget vfstool)

 

reboot

 

and it'll work but ONLY with sigget's tool , the other 2 are still not working !

i made many tries to get it to work and still nothing....

 

is there anyone willing to send me at least the skin files? ( faces , hairs , armors )

i tried to mess with the cygwin file but nothing changes

 

@zombie i'm mainly using win 7 64bits but i also have a dual boot with win xp sp3 and the same thing happens/

thanks for the answer , well cygwin is a dll of one of the 2 vfs viewers provided on strategycore i'll try removing it but i doubt it'll work.

hello everyone , i recently wanted to replay and finish ufo AS with my custom made skins ( i lost them skins and savegame during an HDD crash ).

 

so i re installed ufo as , and wanted to extract the files from gamedata.vfs, this is where it gets bad , i cannot open / extract any files from gamedata.vfs and mod multim.vfs , every time i try i get a STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION error.

 

i tried meaaov , flux and sigget vfs tools and far manager all of them and all of them give me the same result.

 

has anyone experienced this problem and know a fix?

 

or even better any kind soul to share the content of these two files with me?

 

i know the files are quite huge but if anyone is able to upload/send them to me i'd really be thankful !!
