to play the game at the best, what have i to research to get the new buildings and so on?

Its a long time ago, i last played X-COM, but now the fever got me again, since one week or so, and now i'm asking myself, what i have to research to get the hyperwave decoder?

[Damnned PSI-Aliens]

This week-end i had a big massacre battle with 26 soldiers against some PSI-Aliens (10), i lost 18 soldiers and after i dont remember how many panic-rounds, i finally killed those bastards! How many months PSI-Training should i have done to be a bit stronger in PSI resistence? 'cause they really f**ked me off!

So i do it this way, wait for a UFO that lands nearby, don't shoot it down!!!

then fly to the landing place and beginn the mission, while the mission, don't shoot on the energy source of the alien-ship, otherwise you won't get elerium, do it a few times, and you'll have enough elerium, plasma guns and much more. This way you have a bit more aliens to kill, but this is not a problem

[How many bases?]

I just wonder, what others think about that, i have 3 full functionally "ready to fight" bases, now i'm not sure about to build more with only Radarstations, or to build complete bases? What do you do?

i got a question, when can i use the PSI-amplifier? i had already one training with some soldiers, but in combat i still cant use the PSI-Amplifier, where can i see the PSI-value of soldiers? and how much does it need for a soldier to use the amplifier?
