    T'is my birthday!

Happy birthday. Have fun. I shave my head (well not totally, 4 on top and 1 on the rest) just for the ease. Saves time on combing. I also just look better with less hair.
  3. That has been on the site since late May/eary June. Two of there current 3D artists worked on Interceptor too.
  4. Infogrames is cutting around 60 percent of its employees based in Europe. This is an attempt to save around 25 million Euros a year by laying off nearly 500 workers in France, the UK, and Germany. This brings to total layoffs in Europe up to over 600 people this year. It is unknown if any jobs will be cut in the United States. If Firaxis is publishing the next X-COM title (presumably through Infogrames) it is unlikey that much will be affected. Firaxis itself has no money problems. If Infogrames get bought out, there should not be much difficulty in switching over publishers. Firaxis is not bound to any one company and has already released 4 titles through Electronic Arts, who is currently rumored to be looking to purchase the failing publishing rival. GameIndustry.biz has more information on the story.

Much of the anger over Civ3 also came over multiplayer. It provides enough hours of single play to make up for it though. MOO3 is being 'dumbed-down' for a number of reasons. They've had some staff related development problems. They also promised far more than they could deliver.

Cutedge: I enjoy Civ3 myself, but many people were extremely disappointed. That is the problem when a game like that is rushed and very hyped. The Limited Edition version was also lacking in promised goodies. Bomb Bloke: They licensed the NetImmerse engine for mulitple games. I do not expect them to create a new engine for this X-COM game when they have NetImmerse.

E-mailing Firaxis won't make much of a difference. They do like getting positive e-mail though. There were some people really upset with Civilization III who've sent some pretty nasy ones over the past few months.

    X-COM Rights

Well there is still a very real chance Firaxis is not making this game. They do have the NetImmerse engine which means they are making some third person game with RPG elements.

    X-COM Rights

Well I posted that. I was wrong about Firaxis not having the license. I was being fed semi-false information. You see, I know far more about Sid Meier games than most people. I have every one of his games. I worked at Sidgames.com for a long time until that site went down. At the end of the Spring it was learned Firaxis was looking for 3D programmers. During this time, some hints about Alpha Centauri II were made. This made me and a few others believe that SMAC2 was this 3D game. It is know known that it is only a possible expansion pack for Civ3. It wasn't until it was learned they were using the NetImmerse engine that I realized that was just a ploy. Then I came out with the X-COM theory. Days later Sid talked about making a Pirates! or Might and Magic game. Those too were just misinformation. It is all but officially confirmed that Firaxis has the X-COM license and is making an X-COM game now. I have discussed this with a few people but still no official announcement. That isn't suppose to come out until October.
