Beheadings at PAX East were plentiful, courtesy of Haunted Temple Studios' Skulls of the Shogun. This energetic hex-free turn-based strategy game shows how you can have fun even in the afterlife with magical animal-monks, ghost-samurai warriors and mustachioed samurai generals.

With its roots in classic turn-based strategy gaming, Skulls of the Shogun retains depth and adds a smooth, simple interface that makes it accessible and enjoyable even to players new to the genre. Players immerse themselves in battle with fun and unique game play features amidst lush, eerie environments.

The game got some well-deserved attention and, should you want to know how it plays, just grab your chopsticks and down your rice rations while watching this head-lopping battle report at Kotaku here.

It will have you hoping to join the dead this Fall, when the game is released.
