Coming Through!

Leaving the trenches in a daring move is WWI Breakthrough! This freshly revealed expansion for the verbosely titled, but well known, Strategic Command World War I 1914-1918: The Great War is now in late beta and keen to advance our way.

In the battle plans are nothing less than 20 campaigns, containing everything from high, medium and low level ones that can offer you a quick strategy gaming fix or meaty extended engagements, taking place in locations that range from the balkans to east Africa.

There really seems to be something for everyone here. For instance:

American participation in the war is far from neglected, and Patton's tanks will be rolling forward in the St. Mihiel Offensive, swiftly followed by General Pershing's advance in the Meuse-Argonne in the final weeks of the war.

This release also provides the opportunity to refight two important wars from either side of the Great War: the First Balkan War of 1912-13, and the world changing Russian Civil War.

Some of the major new features are the introduction of a new deployment phase, that allows you to pick where your key units are to be fielded before any fighting starts, revised supply rules for greater strategic realism, and an improved war map which fosters better planning.

Battlefront.com is currently aiming to have the expansion out and about in two to three months, so get ready to go over and charge the enemy in October at the very latest.
