  1. I am enjoying your writing style.
  2. Yeah I actually played tftd as a kid BEFORE ufo/eu and I never actually beat it. As I found eu to be a better game I always just played that. Now, I sort of feel like I should beat it just out of respect.
  3. After beating UFO a couple times playing ironman with a few different mods I decided it was time to break out TFTD. I remember why I don't like this game. Its VERY annoying. Terror missions have so many nooks and crannies with spawn points such that the aliens don't move. I spend 40 minutes trying to find the last alien in a terror mission (there were actually 3 much to my dismay). The three weren't together mind you they were in different buildings. Also they don't attack you. Alien: "Hey thar I hear multiple of my buddies fighting outnumbered 3 to 1 against xcom and I'm at 99 morale so why don't I just HIDE IN MY 4x4 building. I like the bigger maps and more terrain detail, I also like the two part bases and general added difficulty. But man, why should I play if its not fun? I may press on (got dead and live deep ones on said terror mission), but I'm not sure. Anyone else run into this problem?
  4. Yeah I wish in the mission summary it would tell you who died so that you can mourn your loss.
  5. I get 404 errors ... edit: nevermind http://ufopaedia.org/index.php?title=Main_Page is working now
  6. I am running Vista64 By horribly I mean that the graphics are all discolored and when I move the mouse off the bottom of the screen it gets lost until I find it again. BB, It makes sense to me now that a dos emulator can't run a windows executable also I did not know the steam download came with both versions. Kabbage I got Extender to run with the steam installation by following these steps: 1. Install EU from steam (obv) 2. Follow normal instructions for installing UFO Extender 3. Install XComUtil (MUST USE Beta v9.7) say yes or no to all the options but make sure you say yes to the 'Detect UFO Extender' question. 4. To launch double click on .../steamapps/common/xcom ufo defense/xcom/runxcom.bat (Don't launch from steam). This info came from the wiki page BB posted above. Everything seems to be working fine now (no discoloration or anything). Only problems: 1. Unless I run the game in dosbox I can't run it in a window. 320x200 does not look good on a 24 inch monitor 2. Steam won't track my hours played of xcom ~80 now since I bought it on steam
  7. Hi does anyone know how to get steam's dosbox to run UFOLoader.exe instead of the normal batches. I have posted this on his wiki page as well but was hoping someone here might know. Thanks -Dogfish
  8. I nominate all those rookies who accidentally shot another rookie in the back at UFO-Crash Site-1
  9. Special thanks to Catwalk / Catnub (http://www.strategycore.co.uk/forums/My-second-video-campaign-t7709.html) for his link to this site from his youtube TFTD videos. I'm glad to see there are people out there still as crazy about this game as I am. I already owned 3 different copies of EU and TFTD in different media but seeing the complete pack on steam for less than the cost of a cheeseburger I could not resist. 70 hours of play in the last two weeks later.... I have begun a "lets play" series on youtube http://www.youtube.com/dogfish314 My first game has been finished I just need to compress/process/upload all of the 10 minute videos. 21 down about 150 to go... </shameless-plug> Bringing much love from the colonies, -Dogfish
