I got exactly same problem when installing my good old Apocalypse CD in my Window 2000 SP3 system. It complain CDROM speed and files buffer but let me choose drive. After choosing drive, the install program quit. I know may dos game is not supported in 2K/XP but as I see many discussion on how to PLAY it on 2K/XP with some hacks and fixs, there should be a way to INSTALL it first, right ? Thanks for any help.
