We do have a verified problem with the XNA updater, especially on some Vista and XPx64 systems, that is why we are changing the installation routine at the moment. I guess it will take only a few days to get out a new version. I guess you are missing XNA refresh v1.0. It can be obtained from here. In general and for everybody: Should the game itself start but crash or hang during that process, please have a look in your Xenocide installation directory and check if there is a CEGUI.log. Should it be there, please send it via PM or contact us via http://www.projectxenocide.com/contact.php we'll then get back at you asap.
Although this is not top news anymore, we would like to announce the release of the progress release 0.4.0.1835. It features a fully playable Planetview, a working Baseview and a rudimentary Battleview, so that theoretically it is possible to play the game right up to the Thanatos mission. For the first time, Xenocide is delivered with an installer, checking and installing all the needed prerequesites for you. If you decide to give it a try, please send us your feedback! Today a new public Progress Release has been made available! This PR bearing the Minor Number 02 features employee management, Research, Manufacturing, item transfer, illuminated night map and all the differnt kinds of UFO missions! Additionally many 3D models have been added. For your convenience a seperate Audio Pack has been created that you'll only need to download once, but will give you a great sound experience for the next few Progress Releases at least. Check it out! You can download the latest version from the Files Section here.
Actually - but I'm not really up to date regarding this matter - I heard that the X-Fi is a big troublemaker and might even slow down the PC under some circumstances. Don't get me wrong, I love the genuine SB stuff, but I have also experienced some pretty nasty performance issues with quite a few of them, including, but not limited to the SB Live! Player 1024 under Windows XP (interestingly it works fine unter 98.... ). So, I guess, all I want to say is, be careful with the choice of your soundcard...
If I may? Could you switch of this mumbling? I would prefer strict subtitles like in the oooold movies. the mumbling just gets on my nerves after a while, especially, because it's not adjusted to the drama of the scenes. Otherwise, great stuff
You all might have read this in the Project Xenocide Section of the main page, but for completness sake, I'll post the job offer here as well. Please spread the word!
