OK looks like there's another patch coming out to fix this

thanks for replying so do i need to do the research or is it a dead end anyway - I assumed it would lead to bigger "hybrid" energy packs? and is everyone having this problem, or if i started a new game might it go away?

Mine is simple - I name them after what I use them most for - say if a guy is good at medicine I'll name them "medic" - or if they've got a rocket launcher they'd be "launch" or "heavy"

not sure if its too mcuh of a problem -but it is anoying me. I have laser and plasma tech - alien and some home grown - and can use both energy and power cells - yet in my developments screen it says (under the "not ready to develop") Power cells - and says that I need the item "alien power cell". Leaving aside the fact that I have been using them (probably due to the pre patch bug) I have now got some power cells from a mission and it still says i need one!! Does this actually mater, is it essencial research? and will it sort itself out now i have the patch - or should i just start all over again?
