  1. Oh wow, I had completely forgotten of this thread Yeah, sadly things have gone quiet lately, but I hope, since summer's coming and the college semester is ending in the US soon that we'll see more activity about how this mod is going as of lately)
  2. Nice new update Blunter! I like the introduction of the mushrooms, they truly give a unique flavour to the game now XD But jokes aside, I find them neat. When it comes to the alcohol naming, well, spiked alcohol sounds good enough, and for the second one... hmm, I don't really have any ideas right now. Perhaps, you could eliminate their naming of "alcohol" altogether, since the mushrooms provide some pharmaceutical bonuses, you could switch their names to elixirs or sth similar. Like, "Medium Elixir" for the first one and "Strong Elixir" for the second. It'd be cool, I think ;P As for the maps, they look pretty great to me, I love the eerie looks of the night fog time setting. I'd like to see those maps in a winter setting too, but they're fine just the way they are now)
  3. Whew, it's been forever since I've last been here... Nice! The underground map looks really intriguing and I'm looking forward to its full release, Blunter. Hadn't been able to check the story due to developments irl, but will get to it around this or next weekend. As for buffing up the pistols and make them more useful, since that was an issue on my end as well (I equipped Elf my scout with carbines and silenced submachine guns because they were always more useful then pistols at any time), I suppose the AP cost of using them should be significantly lower to constitute their use, along with their accuracy greatly improved when you are closer to the enemy (and, along with that, a counter to the bigger guns - a penalty for close quarters combat with rifles and etc). Also, I feel scouts, medics and engineers should receive a bonus for using pistols, since they're not combat-heavy classes, in the traditional sense that the soldier and grenadier classes are. Still not sure if this bonus should be implemented by snipers too, then again, I rarely got my sniper up in the front lines with the rest of my squad, so, I guess, why not? I've never really bothered with the multiple munition types in SS3, so idk what to suggest on that end - I'd take Vodka's idea for it, as well as the one he suggested for armor types, which seems quite good to me, though, as he too mentions, hard to implement.
  4. Hmm, I have a friend who could translate everything here, he was living in germany for a few years and now he may be back in his home country in England but he still studies the German language and follows their news closely. I'll give them the signs and see if he can help (though I see Havoc and dimovski already beat me to it oh well, the more choices in translation the better, eh?) Also, noice, I'll try and help, I'll need to find the post which details what the story is so far, I don't have any ideas so far for the main quest x_x On a final note, Wolf 2009 seemed a bit bland to me when I played. It was a fun shooter, and the death animations were brutal and I loved them, but that's the only thing I remember from it. It seemed odd to me how much Wolf 2009 tapped into the paranormal, considering RTCW which had a much finer blend of paranormal and real life history; Wolf 2009 felt less well done, much more sloppy in terms of the two's integration. The New Order is great though. And I wouldn't consider it exactly serious, I think it's more campy, from the mecha Nazis who have robots and space lazers, to BJ's grumbling voice who is always going gruff; this kind of stuff disarm you in their silliness that allow for the more serious story to latch onto you later as it progresses (the only other notable example I can think of is Metal Gear Solid 3, which may I remind it has a boss fight with a man who shoots bees out of his mouth, and still has one of the best storylines in a videogame and a piece of creative medium I've ever seen in my life so far!) I've only managed to play the demo and watched Super Bunnyhop's review for TNO, but I loved what I saw, and I still kinda wish I was able to play it.
  5. Aha, noice! Which reminds me, I must play STALKER The Lost Alpha now that I have it... And Blunter, I don't remember, as I hadn't checked the thread in a long time, but it might have been me; I'm an amateur novel and script writer (amateur as in haven't published anything yet), and I always had interest in helping the mod out with my writing skills, but recent developments irl had made me stay away from writing for over 3-4 months, so I might be rusty... Still, if you'd like help on the writing/script department (dialogues, characters, etc), I'd be glad to help you out
  6. @Fireman (And I'm instantly reminded of the song "Fire Young Man" from the Ace Combat 2 OST @_@ ) I think it's a combination of both. And on the summoning encounter, that sounds like a great idea! That could be a neat boss fight I... still don't know how to feel about the supernatural aspect this mod brings into the game, I usually play the older versions because I enjoy my playthrough of S^3 on a semi-realistic perspective, where you only fight THO members at least. And I love those maps Blunter has designed, but the zombies... they're kind of a turn off damn it XD But I love where this mod is going, and I'm really looking forward to see where the story will go from here though
  7. hmm, I really like the size of the map, makes for some good close quarter fights, which will definitely be great!
  8. Woo, an update to this mod! Awesome! Glad to hear you're doing ok Blunter, really sorry to hear about all this mess of a situation you and your relatives are stuck in atm. I hope things go smoothly and it doesn't much longer to settle down (though judging by what you said, it seems it might take quite a while longer...) As for the new mod stuff, those two maps look quite awesome! Though I don't play Sentinels as much as S^2, this was the mod that got me originally interested in the expansion. I really like how all this is turning out, but it does make me wonder whether I should stop checking the forums to avoid spoilers for this mod's occult-ish story XD Keep it up mate, we're lovin' it so far. Great job, honestly!
  9. Tbh, I wouldn't like to see bio mutants in another project (one of the reasons I haven't played much of this mod here is also because in part to the zombies - not that bit a zombie fan, but I love the earlier versions and fixes they do) Modern combat scenario, that'd be neat. I think there are a few out there, but I'd love to see Blunter's take on it, since he and the rest put a lot of effort in the mod. What I'd love to see though is a reskin of the game and repackaging to match the aesthetics of Metro 2033. Has anybody else played that game? Silent Storm emulating Metro 2033 and its atmosphere and everything would be pretty awesome! EDIT: Also yay for Blunter getting his computer fixed and back into action! Looking forward as to what's gonna come out next ^_^
  10. Oi yeesh, that's a pretty bad setback :/ Well, here's hoping for the best that things will be resolved quickly enough and with hopefully as many of the original files intact!
  11. I joined the forums just so I could participate in the discussion here on this wonderful mod you've got going for S3 I bought myself Silent Storm Gold from Steam last week, and I've already put in more than 35 hours of playtime already! I love that game. In fact, I stumbled upon this thread yesterday, when I was searching for a guide for S2, and I stumbled upon some mods and one thing led to another that brought me here. I was pumped up for the new scenario and new plot of S3, but then I discovered I was reading page 7 or 8 of a 43-pages-long thread, so it's probably too late to contribute to the plot by now XD But yeah, how is the mod turning out? There haven't been updates on it since a couple months ago, and judging by this last page, there was still work getting done on this mod. Also, could I contribute as well to this mod? I know nothing about modding and editing in-game files, but I am a writer, and the new plot is what caught my attention on this mod mainly (besides the cool new uniforms). So, if I could contribute as well, that'd be really awesome! Thank you for all the wonderful work you guys have done on the creation of this mod!
