I have the original Apocalypse CD (actually it was a pack with all 4 games) and I am wondering if I can run it on win7 on my laptop. I can't start the installation, it says it does not support full screen mode. Is there any way to run the install?
Thanks.

I managed to run the install using DOSBox. I open it through DOSBox but it doesn't play at all, only shows a black screen and that's all. Also I can't find any patches around. Can someone help me or provide me with a patch link?

Works for me in Win7 with dosbox.

I run xcomapoc (.exe) , it also does the black screen, but i just press ESC and it then goes to game menu.

Make sure you set your sound properly in setup.exe.

The setup option also doesn't work on DOSBox.

Just had a read around..

You could try the crack

COPIED FOR ANOTHER THREAD

What are your soundcard specifications? The type of soundcard, IRQ, DMA, etc.

Is it a soundblaster 'compatible'? If it is, that should make things easier. Test the various 'sound blaster' settings in the sound setup, and work down from there.

Note that the game's 'autodetect' setting is unreliable and shouldn't be trusted. First time I set up the game, it autodetected my Sound Blaster Pro (which it is), but the whole thing fouled up and worked like Alain described. I had to manually set it to a plain 'Sound Blaster' and it now works like a charm.

From the .nfo file with the crack...

install the game with optimal version
  option in the installation program
  (full installation 200MB)
-------------------------------------------

- copy whole "Maps" directory from
X-COM CD to your game "Maps" dir
   (overwrite existing!)

   and optional:
to see movies and hear music
just copy "SMK" dir from X-COM CD and
"music" file from X-COM CD to your
   game dir.

   note:
If you installed a game on C:\ then
you must change a letter in xcom3.cfg
to C:\ because its set to a letter of
   cdrom drive!
If you didn't that you can't hear music
   in the game!
-------------------------------------------
copy all .com + crack.bat files included
in this zip to your game dir where is
xcomapoc.exe and run the file crack.bat
-------------------------------------------

Good luck
