Your Turn, General

Systems are going online. That's what we're hearing from Düsseldorf-based Blue Byte, which have broken radio silence to broadcast they're working alongside Funatics Software in the just-revealed free-to-play browser-based Panzer General Online.

Panzer General Online represents a new direction for the legendary Panzer General series. It focuses on turn-based tactical battles on the newly designed Battlefield.

Panzer General Online incorporates elements of both Collectable Card Games and Turn-Based Strategy: collect and trade realistic miniatures of tanks, infantry, and artillery to create your own personalized army.

Put together a deck of Command Cards that lets you call in devastating air strikes and order tactical maneuvers that can turn the tide of battle.

Focusing on intense strategic battles, players are able to play in both single-player and multiplayer modes. The single-player campaign functions as an advanced tutorial and lets the player take part in battles such as Omaha Beach and Monte Cassino. Meanwhile, the multiplayer mode offers the toughest challenge for every player to discover which generals best know how to control their units.

If you're looking to enlist for duty, it is possible to do so by registering at the official site for the closed beta that will start this year.

There is as of yet no word on the release date but it looks like 2014 is a pretty safe bet.
