To Be Set Ablaze

We want it well done. And when we're talking about something of the magnitude of what's being attempted with the adaptation of a boardgame such as World in Flames to the PC the extended time required is, we guess, an unavoidable investment.

To give you a sense, here's how things are being described at Matrix Games:

Imagine a world map which accurately depicts terrain at 90 kilometers per hex  (70,200 hexes) showing all major rivers, coastlines, island chains, and mountain ranges. The printed version of this map is 27 feet long and 9 feet tall! And yes you can buy that when you buy the game!

There are thousands of units with quantified historical capabilities from 250 countries with 8 major powers. It is a detailed simulation of the interactions between land, sea, and air forces on a global scale. More than 12 terrain types (Clear, Forest, Swamp, Jungle, Mountain, Desert, Desert-mountain, Ice, Lake, Sea, Qattara Depression, Tundra). This game is so complex the play guide and rules are enough to fill three large hard backed books!

They are not kidding, this is the real deal and a look through the game's dedicated product page will very much show you just that.

This Australian Design Group's veritable pièce de résistance is finally and incredibly no longer that far off, with fielding set for November. To aid in a deployment as flawless as possible recruits are being beckoned to report for beta-testing duties here.
