On To Two!

Day two of the Slitherine/Matrix Press Event is in full swing and developers are really getting down to business. Today things are getting more detail-oriented and actual game specifics as well as future plans are being laid bare more explicitly.

Taking to the show floor first this morning was Director of Development Iain McNeil who talked about Close Combat and its history, going on to reveal specifics regarding increased squad counts and infantry tactics in Panthers in the Fog, 32-bit graphics instead of 16-bit, the plans for a new engine in the future and that, indeed, another entry in the series will be coming in 2013.

Next up was Commander: The Great War, with Tim from the Lordz Games Studio doing the honours and getting down and dirty with war in the trenches, fatigue, zeppelin attacks, u-boats, historical and ahistorical possibilities and all manner of other cool stuff, including word on a planned expansion that will have war continuing in 1919!

He later went on to talk about a grand strategy fantasy novelty named Sovereignty: Crown of Kings which will arrive by the end of the year or the start of 2013. Here you can count on ogres and unicorns but also special events cards, ambassadors, trade and magic in a turn-based format.

Present too was Victor from VR Designs to baffle us with Decisive Campaign: Case Blue, claiming that it will be bigger, longer and more detailed than previous VR games. Taking us to the Eastern Front in 1942 it will have an unprecedented level of detail, with realism and simulation playing a pivotal role that will nonetheless allow you to alter the course of war.

Sounds too good to be true? Well, it gets better, as a Beta Test Team for this title is now forming and you can join in on the fun right now by contacting Mr.Karlis Rutins.

After that, guided by Mr.Lorenz from Proxy Studios, we had a special encounter with Pandora: First Contact, introducing us to an incredibly rich, realistic and randomly-generated sci-fi world where native life is a pervasive threat and the forwarding of your goals as a faction leader can be achieved through science and politics as well as economical or military means.

A lot to look forward to in this one we'd say, so you'll be glad to hear that it's to be expected as soon as the third Quarter of 2012.

We have a lot more details to share with you about these games and the promised media goodies too. Hang around as it will be worth your while!
