Monstrous Fight

by on 15th Aug 2013

This might not get ugly. With proper planning and given the 3D renditions employed it could actually get rather appealing for fans of turn-based tactical strategy willing to give Rubicon Development's Combat Monsters a fighting chance.

From the makers of Great Big Wargame and Great Little Wargame:

Combat Monsters is a mash up game, blending in the best bits from card combat games and rpg fighting games.

From the hundreds of cards available, pick a theme and build a deck around it. You might go with fast attack weenies, tanks, long range sniping or anything you can dream up - the number of combinations and valid tactics is endless. Don't forget to back up your theme with card drawing spells, power up buffs or some of the other massive choice of rule bending and game changing cards.

Some of the knockout features:

• We have a board: On which your warriors and monsters may move about!
• Monsters for all tastes: 132 unique monsters across 11 races with 50+ unique activated abilities
• Weaponized weapons of war: 70 unique weapons to shred the enemy to pieces
• Spellcast like 1969: 42 spells to tilt the battle in your favor
• The taste of things to come is... sweet: Ambitious future roadmap with trading, sit-and-go constructed and sealed deck tournaments, new races and cards... and more!
• Flexible multiplayer: "Daily asynchronous" and live online play for up to six players; private or public with matchmaking to prevent unbalanced battles.

This free-to-play title is about to enter open beta on August 21st or thereabouts, according to the devs. Also, if you want to put some more muscle behind it you can - by casting your favourable vote and aiding its Greenlighting.

To be officially unleashed by Q3 of this year.
