Commanding!

Leading the way out of the Press Event trenches is the Lordz Games Studio's Commander: The Great War! Sporting a brand new trailer to lift high your expectations with its ambitious World War I wargaming charge.

The new trailer is certainly captivating, but it's not just for looks as it shows some of the aerial threats you'll be contending with, namely in the form of zeppelin attacks on UK cities.

Cities play an important part as you can't afford to lose the production points they originate, and the blow to national morale that their loss would entail, leading to reduced research capabilities and less manpower available. Conquer them, however, and you'll reap the corresponding benefits.

Morale levels which can be affected by a number of things, like the destruction of a battleship, can have other more far-reaching historical implications too, such as, for instance, provoking the Russian revolution.

More mundane and logistical aspects also have a meaningful impact, though. Such is the case of troop rotation in and out of trenches with the related effect on fatigue and efficiency levels, fortifications which gradually build up over time, limited artillery ammo that requires a production point investment to increase and the resort to railway transportation for quicker and less strenuous troop movements.

Players will control the Central Powers or the Entente Alliance through the entire war, starting any year they want and dealing with up to approximately 40 events, either at specific dates or dynamically, as a result of the decisions made.

When you opt for combat, you have tools at your disposal to aid you, with combat prognosis that gives you results with likely versus certain figures, and if you go with diplomacy a simple system will assist you in assuming a neutral stance or in declaring war.

All of these actions have consequences, so, for example, sinking American ships with your u-boats will bring the US into the war sooner.

The game will be coming out in about two months' time, so stay down and weather the machine-gun fire until then.
