    New X-COM Announced

2K is still going through with it for a FPS XCOM, foobar! http://e3.gamespot.com/story/6265050/xcom-...ps-2k-e3-lineup Still!
  2. Ah, I forget how it works right now without being in the game. I think you put the gun or rifle in the right box, but then I am not sure. Anyway, one of the 22 guns and the original rifle can be changed to add the silencer or the accelerator, but the most it will do is adding the accelerator to one of the 22's, not the one with the 6-shot clip but the Walter whatever 22. Anyway I use the scientific lasers at first because they have longer range and do more damage to robots unless closer and getting zapped by the robots with your squaddies. And for the beastmen I use the reticulan weapons because the humans really have nothing at the beginning except the scientific lasers, so I usually am stuck making battery packs for those and making more scientific lasers. I just get the rifles they produce as early as I can then. Anyway if you do change the 22 or the rifle then you have to look for the weapon in like Special Items then because it will not show up in the usual place to equip a squaddie with it. I usually just use those for back-up and use the reticulan weapons being in the alliance first off, which is better than being overran by them first of all if you do not accept the alliance with the reticulans. Then I usually leave the two given to me sit or the one scientist I send out on putting in geosondes and the other military one I usually use a couple of times and leave him sit. Once in a while I use them, if necessary. I guess some players use them just to end their lives or something like that. heh-heh!
  3. Oh, it works, but do you need it. Probably not. There are only the original rifle and one gun (I forget which one) that can be changed. I added the accerlerator to the gun, and the silencer to the rifle. But like I said, it is not needed anyway. It does not help the gun out that much and the scientific lasers have a longer range in the first place against robots. Best thing to do is get going on building rifles and guns and get the metal mines working so you can produce rifles.

    New X-COM Announced

Listen I already have a UFO:Afterlight game going. And now because of this News, already while also having a XCOMA game going, I started up a UFO Defense game, because............................................ No Spacealien in this Universe is ever going to force me to ever think about playing a FPS-XCOM with a F Bee Eye-ey-ey Agent in it, just make me go berzerk and panic and just plain shoot me and get it over with. Hoy-i-yoy-i-yoy! If I miss this new game by the time it comes out, well, ExCuse Me! Geeze!

    X-COM on Windows7

I use the original CD's when I can. I only have XP. I for awhile could not install the complete XCOMA in dosbox, but then it finally took, and the entire game was installed. The point being that if they are going to sell it in a download, then they should have it where it will install entirely. At first it did not want to do it, and I was in doxbox 0.72, but it finally did, and I did not give up. Now, I do not need the CD in the drive to play and that is what matters. Something to do with the speed of the CD drive which is way faster but dosbox don't see it correctly or the game does not when trying to install. All it takes is one time of seeing it correctly and then all of the game installs.

    New X-COM Announced

Why give this so-called X-COM new game any credit at all? Are you trying to fool yourself in what it will be? I know I missed UFO:Extratrerrestrials but then, about the only thing I will do is still play the X-COM games I have and they even make UFO:Aftermath sound better than whatever it is that they are trying to convince anyone of. An FBI Agent in the '50's remake reimagined? Let me imagine! NO! Elvis Presely set with singing and shaking his knees singing "Hound Dog" would make a better agent than the little I am reading. Whole lotta shaking going on! Well, no! Geeze! This gaming company has lost its mind in the fact that they are trying to pass this whatever it is off as an X-COM game. Words can not describe the way that I feel about what I just read. Heard of Tea Parties Protesters today in Washington and other places. Heard of Sarah Palin! That is what this game seems to be to me. Something from a "Bridge to Nowhere". Please come down to Planet Earth Spacealiens and take over this Planet. I demand a non-human leader. Except if you're really really bad.

    New X-COM Announced

Ya, it is the new Hanna Montana X-COM version. No need to fear spacetime aliens, humans are on this Planet in this Universe. And forever shall they go by market of 12 year olds or something like that. It must be due to the educational system. Now, all sing with glee!
  8. Well, that is not important to me, as I missed the other thread already started on the same topic here. After "Dreamland Chronicles" was not finished and all the hype that came from that, I am just wondering if they really know or not what they are reporting there at Gamespot. I have no idea what I am doing sometimes either though, I think. Afterall I am still on "UFO:Afterlight" and after awhile even with 1.7 version, the game drives me batty with their talking in it, you probably all know where. It would be nice to have a game that is a bit better even though the UFO games from Altar were different. Afterall didn't they have some code from "Dreamland Chronicles" they did have some pictures way back then on that one? I am here but not here. Humans are on this Planet in this Universe. The Universe may not be Enough! No, that is quantum theory, and sometimes I do feel like banging my head against the wall.
  9. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/xcomuf...eatures;title;1 I am not sure where they get their information (or his information) There are no screen shots, and I am not sure if it is just speculation on his (their) part. But read the article under the game listing for X-COM: UFO Defense listed under that game's listing. Comments have been given readers already. if the link does not work I can guess at just getting to the main page of the game listing, probably: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/xcomufodefense.html I hope that is correct, I did not copy that link, so yes, I am guessing, but quite sure perhaps. (silly boy) Well, what do you think about this News?
  10. Ya, I can play with my widescreen which though is 1920 x 1200 or regular 4:3 screen like 1600x1200 on down to whatever. I think though for the most part I have been using 1600x1200, but that is just me. I do that for DVD-movies because I sit closer to the monitor, and at the high wide-screen resolution I would have to back up a few feet more for a wide-screen movie. And I have some other games that will support the wide-screen which is only in one resolution on a wide-screen monitor anyway. At least mine is!
  11. Just got the game finally after the first DVD did not start the game up. Finally found it in a store with a DVD that runs, finally (yes, I know about the on-line places but that is not the game in hand). Installed 1.6 version but using Windows XP SP2 with only a Geforce 7300 GT card and old drivers around 97.31 or so. Runs fine except it did hang up one time. I think defragging the drive helped out. But really, capturing a Beasty Boy kind of did me in, as I waited and waited but did not know what to do. I expected to pick up the Beasty with the hands and cart it off to the UFO, well all of that did not work, so I had to come here and see what to do. I have started up a new game since then on Normal, but I guess I will have to fight everyone including the Reticulans to actually play this game and steal or get more weapons except I am now up to producing those ol' Earth Technology weapons. The Beasty Boys have to be stopped instead of the robots more now, so on with the game. It is a little bezerked with the messages but I am adjusting and it runs a little fast on a 3.0 gHz computer, but it is running and really no problems so far. The tactical game is slow enough though. Running it full-tilt graphics.
  12. UFO Alien Invasion Free game of @ 258mb for downloading. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/ufoali...sion/index.html Actually I can not download it, and know nothing about the game. Guess it was made in 2004. Has only a few pictures showing the graphics but I thought I let anyone and everyone know in case others wanted to find out about it or try the game. click the link for the 2. whatever version link there is to get to the download page. (may be slow if not a Gamespot member ?)
  13. Ya, all I have is a FX5200 Geforce also, and now other things have changed. Hope the game works, but I think it will, well enough even though the computer is getting old, things have changed! A Natural Diseaster waitiing to happen!
  14. If the X-COM is not the ms-dos version, turn off DirectDraw, since the Collector's Edition was made with Direct X 6 version but for some reason until you turn off DirectDraw to play the game, the graphics will be scrambled on every computer!
  15. Never use the grenades. Like the Super-Striker, and cover and rifles, or the run up and shoot with a shotgun blast!
