  1. In my case all the aliens were right at my drop location. I set up and took cover then all the enemy units in the mission came to life. This actually happens very often to me. Tactics would not help in that case just fire power and crossing of fingers. I think 8 troops would allow some more options or as mentioned an equipment slots for a shiv or two would be nice. With only 6 troops your squad is limited in its make up and flexability. You can't really break up into two groups because if you run into a Disc or Berzeker you most likely won't have enough fire power to fend it off. Sure you will have loses but its hard to bring rookies on any mission to promote because you need the hit points and advantages of the vets as the game goes on. You're forced to take vets on every mission and not really allowed to bring new guys so they too can get experience if they are needed (After a certain point in the game). So anyone you lose is always great loss. You need the option to bring a rookie (red shirt) or two as expendable and if they make it and get promoted, great. It might help if the soldiers all had expanded equipment in their kit. If you could take a scope and some added armor on a heavy that would make big difference in survivablity but only the support class seems to get extra slots. I don't know if that changes later in the game.
  2. I don’t know about OP. I had 9 mutons of all three kinds and 3 heavy floaters on a mission. That’s a lot of power coming at you. It would have been nice to have a couple of expendable rookies to throw at that horde. Instead I had all my best wiped out and It's hard to rebuild later in the game. A couple more guys would be useful. I agree more than one team would be great, as well as more equipment slots on the troops. I favor the support class because they can take on a couple of roles from grenade guy to medic with a slot left for more armor.
  3. Lots of great ideas, but how about an increase in squad size.
  4. I will have to try it without XCU when I finish the current game. It would be nice to see the better looking subs but the XCU options are worth more than just having new subs. Its to bad that mod file isnt part of XCU, that would be great!
  5. I did that and it still wouldn't work. I'm sure the issue is with me and my poor computer skills. I'll have to try and remove everything and do it again to check. It's not all that important. I just think its great to able to have a running version of the game. Thanks Bomb Bloke
  6. Hi All, I was very please to find this site and then be redirect to steam. I’m pretty pumped to be able to play TFTD again. I haven’t been able to that in years. Not being computer literate I wasn’t able to make that run on many computers. I also found the Xcomutil here which is great. It’s a real feat that I was able to get that running. I love gauss weapons with no clips needed. Thanks to some posts here I had no issue making that work. I was hoping for some help on another download I found on the site. There is file for a sub mod. It’s called Xcom crafts remake-reskin mod. I was able to download and unzip the file into my game 1 folder as I did with the util files. Unfortunately I can’t get the new subs to work. Maybe it’s not compatible while using util, I’m not sure. Has anyone had any luck using that sub mod file and if so, shed some light on what I may doing wrong? Thanks
