  1. YOu can definitely see some of where they tried to do it though....
  2. I've always had trouble with bases for some odd reason.....
  3. One time, first month of the game, terror site.... I'm in the center of the map, bottom edge. Left of the skyranger is a warehouse, in front of it another warehouse. Above the skyranger is a road and then a HUGE park/open area covering half the map. All of my guys were packing a normal rifle, an extra clip plus grenades and so on... I also had a medic and an explosives man. I step out of the skyranger, bam 2 sectoids standing right there, took them out but lost a man (no armor yet). Then i've got my troops fanning out and in the park i spot a sectoid on one side and 2 or 3 cyberdiscs on the other, plus i've got other bugs in/near the warehouses cutting off reinforcements/retreat for the guys in the park. The only thing i have that can touch the cyberdiscs is the high explosive packs........ i won.............after 2 hours (real time)......... with one survivor. Not fun
  4. Aziraphale/Break Mage, whatever it is now.... Nice to see you've picked up TFTD. I'm digging the new version of the sig.... just add on lobstermen to the ethereals.......... My personal tactic for the lobsters is (with xcomutil 9.X) 1. Gauss, lots and lots and lots of gauss..... with the unlimited ammo you just want to be careful. 2. MANY VERY Hungry angelfish, they eat anything..... including lobster
  5. Yea, its harder, its another good thing. The other thing i love about TFTD is the theme behind it. TFTD was really influenced by HP Lovecraft (the plotline and so on....)
  6. UFO & TFTD, with apoc ranking a close 2nd. I like both of the 1st 2, u can switch off with them. TFTD is a bit more fun though, i don't know why....
  7. That takes the fun out of the thing
  8. Bloody hell, i wish i'd seen this one (i wasn't playing when the last reply was up). I like the lobster recipie... and w/lobstermen you'll be needing to multiply the recipe by 6 or 7 (even with a half-tail)
  9. LOL, he could become a permanent passenger............. kind of a mascot that you stun on the first turn........
  10. MC in TFTD isn't anything compared to ethereals, from what i've seen. I've never had any serious trouble with bugs MCing my guys, OTOH, UFO didn't have lobstermen..... So i guess it blanaces out, almost. Tasoths are a dumbed-down ethereal, and mutons would be dumbed-down Lobstermen. I usually don't have morale problems, almost all of my troops have 50+ bravery, except for a few exceptionally good ones (in other categories) that have 40 bravery. The one's who get MCed, especially if they're just seamen, able seamen; get shot if they're in a dangerous position(i.e, inside the transport), otherwise i stun them. They still get sacked later on...... not the best financial solution, but it works.
  11. What modifications did u do to the gauss rifle?
  12. OK, with the terror site.... can you say HOT LZ? Keep your troops separated here.... sonic pulsers can do some nasty damage. Go slowly, save TUs to kneel and for a snap/auto shot. Conserve ammo, or the 2nd part is REALLY ugly...... lastly.... If it moves, shoot it!
  13. Ok, thanx. I take it this means that there isn't a "Not so dodgy pirate edition" though.....
  14. One of these days i'll get around to buying a legal copy too........ But in the mean time, two ?s for NKF, or anyone else who can answer them... Does givnig yourself the ability to research the next alien building let you enter? And, if not, is there a "not so dodgy" pirate edition?
  15. This came out in september, and their october deadline is long gone
