  1. Been ages since I last played this. Good choice for an AAR!
  2. *applauds* I especially liked the second group.
  3. Perhaps, but I see little point in a reload function when there's no limit to your supply. And how is the reloading actually handled? Do the soldiers just automatically do it immediately after running out? If so, there's even less point when a TU system is no longer used. I'd argue that there are elements of survival horror tied in, but it's not the focus. As already mentioned, running low on ammo was hardly a common occurance in X-COM. Due to the way the game generally plays out there is often little need to even load a different magazine than the one a rifle started with. Player choice is a sizable factor as well since I often delay the use of lasers in order to actually keep using rifles and pistols that require a reload. Plasma doesn't matter since I don't use it.
  4. Option 4. I like having the possibility of running out, though that didn't actually happen often in UFO Defense/Enemy Unknown for me, especially when lasers came into service. In other games in the genre like Apocalypse or UFO: Extraterrestrials, for example, running out of ammo was a distinct possibility in some missions. I enjoy having to carefully conserve ammo or loot corpses when the reserves start running low. But never having to worry about running out? That's just offensive.
  5. Agreed, SG1. While the story of DoW 1 was fairly generic (in my opinion), the skirmishes could be fantastic meatgrinders that eat up hours at a time. Never tried playing it online, though. As for CoH, I had a lot of fun with it despite it being yet another WWII game. I never tried the expansions (expandalones?), so my thoughts are based purely on the core game of Third Reich vs USA. Looking forward to more info on the sequel.
  6. A bloody final battle at the UFO entrance. May my fallen comrades rest in peace. *salutes*
  7. Nicely done, Mero! Your survival skill kicked in at just the right time.
  8. My bravery and reactions are a bit low, but hopefully I'll last long enough for both to improve. Can't wait to see how I do in the next few missions. The heavy laser should work out nicely for supporting the troops. Welcome, Mero. Another heavy laser gunner is always useful.
  9. Well, at least NKF went down in a blaze of glory! Count me in. Laser rifle and some grenades, preferably.
  10. Ah well, was worth a shot. I'll look into the hex editing and see how it goes.
  11. Hey folks, I've been modifying Apocalypse recently with various tools to tailor the game more to my liking, but I've not seen any methods for changing the UFOpedia entries. Some of the equipment no longer corresponds to the UFOpedia descriptions, so I'd like to change their entries to match. It certainly isn't game breaking, but is mildly irritating when I page through the descriptions and see outdated information. I searched for any previous topics on this subject, but came up dry. Have I missed a tool capable of such edits? At first I thought Apoc'd could change the entries similar to how it can change object names, but I can't find any options to do so. Any assistance would be appreciated!
