  3. Yaaaaay turkey day! ./late
  4. DID SOMEONE SAY APOC?!!!! *sits down with a larrrge bucket of popcorn*
  5. A brief summery: other than some minor fumbles in trying to organize my start menu how I wanted(turns out that wasn't really saved in the upgrade) I've not really had any problems. I HAVE noticed this odd bit where on starting Windows it likes to force all my fans to max for a moment(four times in a row, usually), but everything still seems to run surprisingly well.
  6. Interesting spin on the whole 'every menu and etc is in an overlay menu and not a new full-screen' bit. Nice to see the cityscape working so prettily tho!
  7. afraid my detailed report will hafta wait. familu emergancy has callwd me out of town for a few days.
  8. taking the plunge today folks. will keep you advised as to how things blowup! ^.^

so i am apparently an idiot savant. on the one hand ive probably dug myself an impossible to escape hole; and on the other im making it look like a two inch ditch. see, i decided to enroll at the local votech(vocaitnal/techicnal school) in order to semi-quickly grab some it related offical certifications so an it department would actually look at me. i say semi-quickly because it was supposed to take a full schoolyear, but still faster than a college degree. and incase you didnt catch it, i said supposed to because that was the intent. turns out, i accidently signed up in such a way tjat im supposed to be done by christmas. okay cool, exceot ive been keeping pace with the full year students, and the end of the first nine weeks is this week. so now i get to try to cram three nine weeks of work into ONE. im not sure i can do this. on the flipside, i just took a little brain bench test for part of this, and have managed to ace both parts. while feeling like i had no idea what i was doing. so yeah. idiot savant.
  11. Think I'd be more interested in the idea if it didn't try to handle the non-windows patches and updates(that is, there should be /no reason/ Windows is trying to handle Nivida drivers) and therefore being completely breakable. But hey, here's a prime example of 'wait a month or two before getting it'.
  12. So I admit the original post(from tumblr) about the Win10 upgrade thing is gone, so I'm doing this mostly from memory; but the primary reason to upgrade would be because it would allow for so many extra programming extras that you just can't pull off in older windows. I mean, there's software reasons(Was it XP or Vista that couldn't handle a certain amount of RAM that made the market panic?) that things arn't backwards comptiable as well as hardware reasons(can you picture a WinXp game trying to make full use of a six-core cpu with dual video cards and a bucket of ram?) for upgrading. I dunno, like I said I don't have the full explantion-post that laid it out pretty well and I'm sorry; but I don't really see a reason NOT to upgrade. Sure, maybe not the day of or something, but there's enough bonuses from where I'm sitting(improved handling of hardware through windows, more up-to-date security stuff, simpler access to the newer games(which will also benifit from the handling thing), plus its not a set-in-stone thing. Don't lose your license for the previous version of windows.) I'll be 1) Backing up my Steam Library and the like beforehand. 2) (Make sure you have a physical system restore disk) 3) Waiting at least a few weeks, probably closer to a month, to let them figure out the worst of the issues(8.0 to 8.1, after all) 4) Jumping in full throttle. 5) If something goes wrong, use my re-install disks to revert back to Win7 and lose a minor amount of time from the whole ordeal; and try again in a few months. MOST games that are post-XP should work pretty well from what I've heard/read; and even XP games should DOS-Box well enough. Of course, that's so hit-and-miss even in 7 YMMV as usual. I unno. Just seems like there's more reasons TO for me than NOT TO. But, of course, to each their own.

I have a personal pet peeve: I /hate/ blatent stupidity when you have NO EXCUSE not to know better; and I hate -=/LYING\=- What does this have to do with you, Sunny? Read on, you poor sucker that took the bait. Read on... So I vanish without a trace in the next year or so, just assume I went postal and leave it at that. >.> (Thanks for the rant)
  14. I have nowhere near the knowledge or experience for helping with this. But I am chomping at the bit for this one!

Maybe I shouldn't continue then, part of this feels like a larger-than-life tragedy.
