  1. I've been playing UFO: Aftermath lately and I was wondering is it was possible to make aliens have the laser guns from the start in X-COM UFO defense and have capturing a laser a prereqisite for the laser research branch, maybe also adding a path for plasma guns (Plasma weapons , Plasma Pistol, Plasma Rifle, Heavy Plasma) + having to make fuel cells for the plasma cannons like the gauss cannon for extra challenge.
  2. On Steam, I downloaded X-COM Apocalypse, but the colours are glitched up , I haven't used any mods or anything. Is there any way to fix this? EDIT: Wait, sorry, I clicked new topic, but for some reason, it posted here. But the glitch happens all the time, not just after ALT-TABing.
  3. The file works, and I can now use the modder!
  4. The stats of the armor in ufopedia after clicking on VIEW REPORTS: Front armor, Back armor, Under armor etc etc. I've only just noticed that after reloading a save with all armor preresearched, the armor isn't in the ufopedia. Yes, I got the name wrong, but even with the link you gave me, it still complained about ANOTHER dll missing (TABCTL32.ocx).
  5. The bug occurs for all armor, but it happens randomly,it is sometimes normal the stats are replaced by random pixels ehich sometimes obscure cover up the bottom of the screen and remains on the battlescape. The DOSbox status window had ILLEGAL READ AT: (random number)x(random number) over and over. Etering Battlescape or Save Game caused it to say FATAL ERROR AT (random number)x(random number), the numbers were different every time. EDIT: I tried X-COM MOD but an error saying comdllg32.ocx is missing. This has happened for other programs as well.
  6. Hmm. I tried editing ENGLISH/ENGLISH2.DAT in Notepad, but the file was in japanese. Also, if I saved ENGLISH, an error saying that it is read only popped up, how do I remove the protection? The same prolem occured upon tring to use XCOMUTIL.
  7. I've got some ideas for a mod, but I dont know how to implement them. Help would be appreciated on how to: 1:Change the names of weapons, tanks , and armours. 2:Change the research tree. 3:(not really a mod) Get rid of this strange bug when researching armor: the text in the UFOpedia entry overflows, the geoscape is corrupted and saving or entering the battlescape causes dosbox to crash. Also, Bomb Bloke's Battlescape editor displays a Command prompt window for a split-second and vanishes.
  8. In one of my first saves, my first landed ufo attack was against a Sectoid Battleship. With conventional weapons and 2 laser rifles (still producing the rest). With 14 rookies, I beat all the ailens. A Blaster Bomb took out all but 3, they won, got promoted to captains, and I got Cydonia or Bust in month 1, and PSI, and progress on the firestorm was good by the end of the month (with 230 or so researchers, mind you) , I managed to beat the game in 3 (game) months, a personal record so far. High explosive guns helped.
  9. This is rather trivial, but when I was playing my new game and had just researched Navigation, I noticed that no aliens match the appearence (unless it was some sort of cyborg Ethereal) of the alien in the pic. Does anyone know what it is supposed to be? Trivial I know, but weird as well.
  10. I forgot to mention that I had tried using XCUSETUP.BAT earlier, but all that happened was a Command Prompt window opened, and filled up with text that is in the attached image. In DOSbox it said the same only at the bottom, it said to remove Write Protection on UFO1A, unfortunately, I have no idea how to do that . That could have corrupted the map files, but on the CE, it worked perfectly.
  11. That is probably also related to the fact that the game (battlescape) has no floorplan for the Avenger or Lightning, (the former has the ship nowhere to be found, but the latter had screwy graphics and floorplan (but standing on a tile still wouldn't count as being in the "Exit Area")... But there is no problem now, I transfered the files from a backup of the core files and saves kept on my Zip Drive and the Craft and Base glitches stopped.
  12. Thanks for the help Zombie! Lowering the CPU cycles worked, and now the graphics are fine.
  13. Well. I was playing the dos version of X-COM (in DOSbox) and began an assault on one of the many enemy bases that are around. I have no idea why, but the cursor displays after-images in unexplored areas. I uploaded an image of it. How do I fix this? Oh yeah, there was only ONE Hovertank/Plasma in the image. The others are after-images.
  14. Thanks Bomb Bloke, the .EXE worked, I have one other problem though, the battle screen goes way too fast, how do I fix this?
  15. I have recently bought X-com collectors edition and, after learning of the garbled graphics, downloaded the bugfix. The result? The graphics were fixed, but the palette remains glitched. Strangely, the Geo-Scape is fine, but the battle screen is couloured in reds, yellows, pinks, and greens. Yeah, and the battle was in the north pole. I have no idea how to fix this, but help would be appreciated. My system is a Windows 7 Ultimate, if that makes a difference. I hope that this problem can be fixed.
