  1. I tend to build one real base in europe and two interception bases in china and the US.
  2. He means soldier inventory. The 80 item limit was a technical limitation related to the size of the item table being capped at a total of 255, including alien items, elerium, and corpses, due to the nature of software at the time.
  3. Yes, specifically everyone. At least you didn't have an alien actually inside an inaccessible area.
  4. I tend to just throw everyone I hire into the fray and see who eats a plasma bolt. Actually, at the start I do make something of an effort at actually dividing out some snipers and a heavy weapons team, but that tends to fall by the wayside later, as I end up just giving everyone the biggest gun I've got researched. That's probably why I lose a lot. Later, I tend to do the following with psi: 1-40, label "puppet" or "weak" and do not give them guns on psionic alien missions. 41-70ish, depending on quality of others, get guns 71+: psi corps troopers, tend to mark out 90+ guys separately.
  5. Regarding aliens not using their best tech until you level up, that may possibly have been explained by the cut masterminds behind the invasion holding back the guns from their micronoid pawns. The devestator in particular is very specifically not of micronoid design, though the plot line that was leading to got cut, along with at least one additional alien dimension. Of course, the real reason is the same as in every other alien invasion story ever: if the aliens simply opened with their best weaponry it would be a very short game.
  6. So, the TFTD LP thread had a strange post related to this. It turns out it is possible for an alien in the cruise ship first level to spawn in an inaccessible location. Really. It might require data corruption or an Xcom util screwup, though.
  7. My worst mission ever was a crashed large scout. You see, it was an Ethereal large scout and I was trying to stun one of them to get psi. Problem is, Ethereals don't stun very well. Of course, since very few survived the crash, they couldn't mind-control many of the soldiers in the Avenger, but one of the ones they did control had a Blaster Launcher...
