  1. I haven't finished it yet but here's my take so far... I gave it a 8. Well, maybe 7 but let me explain... I loved the 'feel' of Aftermath. The way they cheated with their visuals (Graphics) like using HEAVY Post processing on screenshots actually left the game with a kind of blurred gritty and hard-core feeling (Glossary displays showed distorted and noisy video's of items and creatures - very nice!). They should have taken that further and made the game darker, more sinister. Aftershock is nice looking but looks too plastic... I have trouble taking the story and world serious. Next. I can't really blame them since I believe they had a heavy deadline but they could have used the same tactical mission generator mechanics (or whatever) in Aftershock, meaning certain buildings and terrains correspond to certain regions. Also, they should have used some tech tree. It helps a player better visualise his current development state. It's a bit strange getting used to... Overall though, it's a great game that can't really be rushed when you play. And I'm not the hard-core type that wants to finish it over a weekend. The repetitive side of missions are not that so bad as some of the balancing problems... which has been fixed. Anyway, all in all a great game that's really underappreciated.Gamespot 4.0!? Mmm, X-com fanboys can really get like some modern gameplay inquisition. "There is only one god and it is X-COM... " - grow up people. I've got some skills with 3D packages and ideas for modding that I hope to impliment - if it's possible. Depending on how much can be modded...
  2. Right, I've finished Aftermath yesterday and now throwing the rest of my remaining life into Aftershock... Thats good, thats VERY good. I'm was a bit game saturated for a while and then this jewel (underdog if you will) came along. Bought the collection (Gold or something) for next to nothing at Kalahari. I was expecting very little and ended up being VERY satisfied. So now I have a few questions: - Why all the bad reviews and user ratings? It might not blow the average gamer's mind but it's a decent, good and pretty solid - for a tactical game... - I heard Aftershock is pretty long. Very long and very repetitive. Hell, it can't be more than Aftermath. Any mods that help bring some variation to missions or whatever. I'm not complaining, just wondering. - I've downloaded the weapon balancing mod so far. Anything else that is a MUST HAVE. All in all it's a great game. Might not be as polished in some aspects but that could be a lot of things (like Publisher pressure for a deadline). I'm glad there is some support from the community for these games... They were really a great effort from Altar
