  1. After the release of 1.3 fan patch by PetteriB, this fix is no longer needed. ERISS has already pointed it out, but I thought it would be clearer if a new message was posted to address this. You can get the 1.3 fan patch here. Have fun and all praise PetteriB for his hard work!
  2. Well done! It was time for me to discover it! And I agree with "Space Voyager", exept for the 'saint' part. -OK this is just to verify it was me. For some reason the server registered me as guest the previous time, although I had logged in -
  3. No, they are not independent, unfortunatelly. The point is that Magnetic Navigation + Ion Armor -> Magnetic Ion Armor. So, if at the point you research Magnetic Navigation, you haven't got Ion Armor at your research tree, you will never be able to aquire it as a research item, effectivelly ruining your progress... If you recall that a live Deep One is required to get Ion Armor, you can see why it is important to research the live Deep One at this specific point. I can confirm that researching mag. nav. before live Deep One did not give me Ion armor for all the games I tried the compination(more than 4).
  4. I agree with magic9mushroom that, indoors, the use of sonic pistols is quite effective. If coupled with vibro blades/heavy thermal lances and by wearing the necessary magnetic ion armor, makes the perfect assault soldier. The pistols allow you to fire even if you encounter the enemy with your half-TU's spent, and the blade/lance allows you to hit with even less TU's if you opened a door/turned a corner and you came face-to-face/at very close distance with an enemy(even Lobstermen). In addition, the blades(around 60%) and, most importantly, heavy lances(around 75%) have great chances to score a one-hit kill, even against the tougher opponents.
  5. After reading magic9mushroom's message and rereading mine, I realised that I didn't really clarify the issue. What I meant by saying that, if you research the live deep one after researching magnetic navigation the game will be unfinishable, was that this will be the case even if you have already researched Ion Beam accelerators!! So, the order "deep one corpse->aqua plastics->aqua plastic armor->Ion Beam Accel->Mag. Navigation->Live deep one" is WRONG. It will never give you ion armor, and will never be able to research the advanced subs. In fact any combination of research in this line other than Deep One Corpse->Aqua Plastics->Plastic Aqua Armor->Ion Beam Accelerators -> Live Deep One is risky. The whole point is that Live deep one terrorist must be researched after Ion beam accelerators + plastic-aqua armor and before magnetic navigation. So, to be on the safe side, just stick to the given correct order to be able to finish the game. P.S. A reminder that this info is correct for DOS version 2.01 of TFTD.
  6. I'd like to clarify the issue with the research bug. In the patched version of TFTD it is absolutelly necessary to research using the following order: Deep One Corpse->Aqua Plastics->Plastic Aqua Armor->Ion Beam Accelerators -> Live Deep One, and now, I think it is OK to research magnetic navigation, although I would suggest researching Ion Armor first. I was wrong in saying that the live Deep one should be researched after the magnetic navigation. If you do that, you will not be able to research Ion Armor and the game will be unfinishable. Better late than never, they say, and I hope this message really clarifies the (major) research bug issue. This information applies to v2.01 of TFTD
  7. I want to apologise to BB for not having fulfilled my promise to post the missdata folder. This is because a lot of things have happened. I have moved out of where I lived at the time. My new location does not provide internet access, and I had to leave my country for over a month. I was only able to connect for brief periods of time and without having access to my computer. At this time, things have began normalizing again, although I still do not have internet access from my house or work. Since a lot of time has passed, I'd like to know if the posting of the missdata folder is still desirable.
  8. The best modding fascilitation will be to provide the source code .
  9. I would like to see a way to change the arangement of the soldiers on the craft, as well. And more information regarding the soldier's encoumberance on the equipment screen.
  10. If I count how many dictatorships the U.S. actually placed in charge of democratic countries, when said countries' democracy didn't suit the goals of the U.S. government, I would say that statting that Iraqi people cannot handle democracy is, at least, unfair. Iraqi people cannot handle U.S. authority on their "democracy". It was easier for the U.S. to maintain their influence when they placed Sadam as the dictator or Iraq, but what they did was absurd: 1)Declare war with no aparent reason(just some obscure claims about possession of chemical weapons that were never found) 2)Go there, kill hundreds of thousands innocent civilians in order to "liberate them"(OMG, if someone can believe that) 3)Place a marionet government, designed to facilitate U.S. control over the area(not unexpected, but surerly unwelcome) 4)Fail to protect the now "liberated"(after being murdered) civilians from the so called "terrorists" attacks(Partizan resistance was always the name when a country was under foreign military occupation. Until the U.S. became the occupying force, that is. And, before someone states that they are killing their own people, remember that the partizans were executing those that were cooperating with the occupying forces) 5)Use methods that they have voted(along with the other UN members) to be illegal(cutting electricity and water supply for example) in their attempt to control the, unavoidable, unrest Now, they are blaming Iraqi that, they can't handle democracy. For anyone that wishes to know the truth, you must remember that Iraq was an artificially created country to begin with(too many races and religious parties that hate eachother were forced to live under the same flag), and it is normal that, since U.S. has claimed to have brought "freedom" to the people, they now want to form their own separate countries. Iraq should have removed the last of the illusion U.S tried to fool the rest of the world with: That they value freedom and justice above all. It was never taken seriously(seeing what they have done in Chili, Greece, Argentina, Panama, Brazil, Cyprus, many other African and Asian nations), but that was the last one that should have convinced even the most resistant to the idea.
  11. Take some grenades and/or grenade launchers with you. You could also use more stealth and/or more detection equipment to spot your enemies before they spot you. If you can give more details, I could suggest a strategy. The answer to the question is: No, you cannot set them to fire at will. You must enable the pause of time when a soldier is hit. This way you have the time to go there and order a reaction.
  12. What do you want to make work?
  13. It allowed you to skip Ion armor. I would suggest patching the game to v2 though.
  14. If TFTD is patched, then the Live Terrorist should not be research before the Magnetic Navigation. IIRC, in the patched TFTD there is no need for a Lobsterman Navigation.
  15. Do not research the live Deep one before you research magnetic navigation. The first line you present does not take the bug in account.
