  1. It's been a while since I felt like making some X-Com Art. But today was the day http://skrie.danoli3.com/PICS/xcom/Ethereal_Art.jpg
  2. The nice thing about the new X-Com is that Armor actually works... I can't count the number of times highly ranked soldiers in flying suits got killed in 1 shot by a heavy plasma. That has yet to happen to me in X-Com-2012. My best armor left my best soldier with 2hp after a Sectopod fired away happily at it from point blank range. If that was the old X-com... death would have been certain and often. It's only fair...because armor is a big investment. On the other hand, it's a bit lame that once a soldier has been killed wearing your precious armor... you can just deploy it on someone else like nothing happened to it. You'd image in it being full of holes and at least having repair costs or something lol.
  3. Started playing X-Com 2012 today... and it's bloody brilliant. You know a game is good when it's 21:00 and all you had was banana at 12:00. Anyways... I had only 1 complaint, and I wanted to ask around if I was the only one bugged by this. Being the veteran X-Com player... I shot down an UFO and waited to land at daytime cause I needed a freebee.... But to my shock and horror... even though the skyranger landed at broad daylight..., the mission was still a nightmission. That's a pretty big fuckup in my eyes. Nightmissions aren't as big a deal like in the old game, but being able to make your own missions was a key factor in the old game and it's actually incredible that they let it go. Anyways... going back to play now , since it's still the best game since 1994.
  4. My plan for the 9th... Cry like a baby.... My plan for the 10th... get drunk My plan for the 11th... move my pc to the livingroom.... Hook on the HDTV and HomeCinemareceiver... Buy Food for a couple of days My plan for the 12th ZOMG X-COM PARTY...
  5. Now that I see a picture of that box... Buying it on Steam suddenly seems like a bad deal
  6. Know just what you mean... There'll probably will be something subtly fucked up about it... For exsample... did you hear the soundtrack... where's our damn spine-crawling creepy soundtrack! What is this Hanz Zimmer clone bullshit.
  7. I spy with my little eye.... Ethereals ! Look fantastic imho! A screenshot for your leisure...or test of restraint. http://skrie.danoli3.com/PICS/xcom/Ethereal.jpg
  8. Ugh.. too bad this thread is as dead as dead can be...
  9. A Large Scout probably full of cute little Sectoids is about to touch down. ! I know I didn't pay enough attention to the perspective... (That's why I should have 3dmaxxed it lol ! I still like the composition though I fantasized how these babies would look like in the sky ! http://skrie.danoli3.com/Large_Scout_Thumb.jpg -Skrie
  10. One avenger with plasma cannons.. It always bothered me that the UFO-paedia had Avalanche lol. Modeled the avenger in 3dMax, painted it with photoshop ! http://skrie.danoli3.com/Avenger_Plasma_Thumb.jpg hope you like it. -Skrie
  11. When I first played it at the age of 14... a friend gave me ufo on a bunch of floppies... I never had a manual.. and I can contest to the fact that it takes a long time to learn with manual. Now that I'm playing it again at the age of 28... and I'm reading pages like this one: UfoPaedia.org And after so many hours of playing... I still discover mighty interesting stuff that I never knew. (for exsample... all my playing never learned me that you can shoot a UFO power source and pick the elirium from the ground ! ) So yea.. it's complicated but that's the main reason the game is so charming imho. I think the reason I could learn a complicated game back then was the fact that I maybe got 1 or 2 new games each year back then... It's not like if someone gave me a game that I was gona discard it for being too complicated -Skrie
  12. Hehe, yea... the sandvich was made by a friend of mine. I had the honors of eating it We're both total TF2 geeks Thx for putting the pic on the fanart page. I think I'll make a few others, though I'm usually really lazy lol. I'll post em up as soon as they're done. -Skrie
  13. I rescently became re-obsessed with X-Com again... I pieced together this bit of fanart by repainting ufo-paedia items. (click thumb for large ) http://skrie.danoli3.com/alien_thumb.jpg I hope you enjoy it ! -Skrie
