  1. in fact I played my first game with light armor and wiped enemies all the time (all kind of enemies) until certain point where matriarcs started killing me too fast from very afar (they have astonishing aiming).... but in that game I didnt use smell absorbers and failed with trainings so I restarted and by the way with TR mod. So yes, light and medium armor do work with rets and martians very well but with beast men you need hard armor and totally different tactics. So: - you can go tactical with rets and martians, like ninja, maneuvering, etc. I specially liked using my 2 rets mind controling martians. - you go "fire-wall" in heavy suits against beast men. Just like you are tanks of some sort, dont bother about being hit. - you can go tactical and mind controling against beast men to a certain point of the game but then you MIUST switch to heavy suits. In other words, you can use both tactics one each against different enemies.

Mmmm I readed some guides and now I know my errors... basically irreversible ones because they have to do with the training of my soldiers.... so.... restarted the game... ...or properly, started a new one with total rebalance et al at normal dificulty. Now a question: I cant remember what research activates advanced planetology as a training for my scientists.... I need it NOW for training Ogui quick before the expedition arrives... thanks in advance

  4. WOW O.O Im a bit advanced by now. Eliminated reticulans (the bad ones) and martians only have 3 territories... I have many kinds of weapons (not martian ones nor gatling) and using medium armor (not enhanced yet)... Well....... I tried a beast men mission after long time and.... Oh god! I cant fight them!! In that mission there are like 5 matriarcs with heavy rifles and they shoot from the other border of the map and connect the 3 hits!!! I cant shoot at them because of distance and it is night I cant even see them properly!! It is a map where you start in a valley with 2 plateaus by each side. I manage to eliminate a group by my right consisting of 1 matriarc, 1 captain and 1 chaman using my rocketeer bot, sniper and psi-reticulan, but the heavy guns guy, 2 rifles and another ret cant manage the other side of the map... Just too many and too pro... Im thinking I need the heavy suits but then my pure soldiers have no more points for training suits and I have no time to produce them (I have 2 invasions just now) (Oh well, I will have to loose those 2 territories) What I dont like from heavy suits is to loose the running... May be the 2nd heavy suits you can run with them? I could research those... Another fail is the medium suits with poor carrying capacity... For the heavy guns guy I simply cant use medium because of all the things he carries. All this is in vanilla... I just cant imagine what will be if I play martian assault.... (which comes with the total rebalance mod as I understood)
  5. About Rita: I only let the soldier reticulan guy die to get the twins. If you keep the medic/soldier reticulan (i.e. put it in the rover and dont let him come to base anymore) you will at some time get Rita tech/soldier, which is nice because another techinician is really needed (dont put her to fight, do as if she is only technician). You will get other people at the proper time, but I am not telling any more spoilers...
  6. Yes actually Im playing very nice. Just restarted from a previous save once because some training didnt satisfy me. Anyways I couldnt undo some training or I had to re-start from very begining. The only thing I have problems with now is I dont know what type of damage to use against marcians (¿marcianos, the last race?). Well I know a basic way but I am not telling for the spoiler. Anyways I am researching marcian authopsy now... The previous problem with not being able to produce enough to restock is solved because I researched the proper techs to use beast men weapons, so I used those only for a long time and meanwhile produced what I needed. Now I am combining all types of weapons and techs (earthen, reticulan, beast men, only marcian I dont know yet). I have a precise plan for the trainings so I can use them all... I reapeat that I like this game because it puts your brains to use and ALSO has fun in the tactical part. Well I have played the ufo and xcom series since begining, and I never get tired of them. Surely I will try the incoming last generation game of the series.
  7. Thank you. I found it myself but thank you for replying. I really like this game, it is very well designed. I dont understand why all the problems people has according to the other posts. It is just that they dont get the way this game must be played. Im playing on dificult level and it is enough challenging. For instance fighting the beast men at first, with only terran guns and grenades, you must maneuver a lot and attack from different and simultaneous angles, not just that you stay in place shooting and win... Also diversifying your troops and weapons is better than a single strategy. You really must put some brains here... The only thing I have problems now is that I dont have enough technicians and time to produce what I need. I have them with enough skills -I put them to study very soon-, but now, when I have just restocked ammunition and grenades, another invasion from beast men depletes it again and put the men on hospital. So I cant make them study more -automatization for instance-, nor can I produce the new missile launchers or heavy suits. I wonder if I will get more technicians soon. With scientists it is not so problematic, anyways I have the working full in 2 laboratories. Anyways, I have just met the reticulan expedition and didnt start any terraforming yet, so it is a long way ahead...
  8. Hello. I have just started a game and advanced a bit. Im researching "human explosive" or "defensive droid chasis" (I have the game in spanish so I dont know if that is the literal name) and it comes to a point where the scientists say that they are stuck and they see no way to solve the problem.... What this mean? I have just changed the investigation, because I understood that they cannot complete that research... is it so or must I continue? Thanks in advance

I already have warp weapons, so it is not so hard, but I m thinking what it would be to fight SG without them...
